Black Warrant Netflix Review: One-time watchable

Look, if you are expecting from this show that it is Vikramaditya Motwane's show, it is completely out of the box and it will make your mind spin, no, this show has not reached that level, but the show is not bad, if you are a fan of a slow burn kind of show, then definitely there are many moments in this show where you will get to see a very good payoff.

Black Warrant Netflix Review

So Netflix has dropped its first Indian content of this year which is Black Warrant. Now, how is this show? Does it deserve your time or not? Let's find out.

Well, Black Warrant is a crime thriller show whose story has been taken from a novel. Now I haven't read that novel, so I don't know how right or wrong it is.

Well, here you get to see the story of Sunil Gupta, who is struggling to get a job. He is not getting a job. Then, in the end, he gets the opportunity to become a jailer. So he thinks let's take this. So he is not so interested in his job but he is thrown into his job. Now what he encounters is a group of people who are criminals. Now, how will he sustain there, and how does the ego system of the jail run? Tihar jail is the most famous.

The story is set in 1981.

Now, to know what kind of gangs are inside the jail, what kind of gangs have their battles to survive here, and what kind of gangs Sunil Gupta is trying to match up with here, you will have to watch this show, which has seven episodes; its length varies from 45 minutes to 55 minutes.

Now, if I review Black Warrant for you in one line, it is a one-time watchable show.

Although I have found a lot of shortcomings, let us first talk about some positives.

The way the atmosphere of the jail has been captured here is very good. The way there are different kinds of gangs, there is a dominance among them. The way they are controlling the jail. The way they are controlling the prisoners there. The convention with which all these things have been presented here is worth watching.

Apart from this, whatever characters have been taken, even if they are small, everyone's acting is quite amazing except one. Now, who is that person? Stay tuned. I will tell you later.

The Haryanvi character has acted very well, which means it should have a real feel.

Paramvir Cheema is here. He has done a very good job without any doubt.

Zahan Kapoor has also done a very good job in Sunil Gupta's character. Apart from this, we get to see Rahul Bhatt. His acting is also very good.

Friends, if I talk about the production design, it is good. Apart from that, the music gives a mixed vibe; there are some scenes where the intensity should be at its peak, but it did not reach that point due to the average BGM. In some places, the BGM was quite good, in others it was excellent, and in some places, you heard average BGM.

Now, see, the whole atmosphere is set in 1981, and many moments felt repetitive to me, meaning I felt like I was reaching the same place again and again.

Apart from this, the problem here was that Sidhant Gupta, who portrayed the character of Charles, did not match that character's accent, gait, and body language.

The character of Charles has been portrayed in a movie earlier as well by Randeep Hooda. You see the conventions that are seen there, they were not there at all here, and the same is happening with Sidhant Gupta; he is selecting good characters, but unfortunately, he does not fit into those characters.

Freedom At Midnight came when Sidhant Gupta played the role of Jawaharlal Nehru. He did not fit, and the same thing was seen here; he did not fit properly.

Apart from this, I felt that the show is sometimes going in a random direction, and it is not getting any special relevance from the main story.

One thing I don't understand is why you show the wife of the policeman having an affair every time. Was there any need for this? Even in the story of 1981, you are adding the modern things of today, which do not seem to be needed in the story.

All in all, if you like slow-burn dramas, then go for it; otherwise, those who want mirch masala entertainment will not enjoy it.

I will give Black Warrant six and a half out of 10.

If I talk about parental guidance, then this is not a family show at all because not just one but many abuses have been used, and even the abuses are without any reason.

Now, what can I say to its makers? They have not listened to me.

So this was my review of Netflix's show Black Warrant. Hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to subscribe, like, or comment.

Show me some love.
