"Beyond the Gates" Week 4 Review
An abbreviated week sees a lot of madness on the immensely popular soap

Amazing! We are now a month into this fantastic new addition to the soap opera genre, and it just keeps getting wilder and crazier and more thrilling! The fourth week of Beyond the Gates was a short one, and that's because all of CBS' three soaps had to make way for the network's perennial March Madness coverage; the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, which took place on Thursday and Friday. However, even though we had three days to enjoy this new bit of madness, it was still quite juicy.
So here are the highlights from the three-day Week 4:
March 17

Monday gave us the aftermath of Dani crashing Bill and Hayley's home while they were honeymooning, and of course, the couple was fit to be tied (a sight I love seeing). Hayley went to confront Dani on her own, and she basically told Dani that the more she pulled stuff like this, the worse she'll look as a person. Here's the sad part about this. I hate Hayley and I despise Bill, but unfortunately, Hayley has a point, and even worse, Dani knows it. Remember: Dani publicly told her family that Bill and Hayley are no longer in her mind, yet she pulls this. Now don't get me wrong, I love seeing Dani flat out fuck with Bill and Hayley, but there is a way for her to do that and still look good in the court of public opinion. Knowing Dani, she'll find that way, I just know it.

So regarding Tuesday, the moment that stuck out with me had to be Naomi's meeting with a trio of women with one unfortunate common bond: they had all be harassed, sabotaged, and demeaned by Mark Davis, who works with--surprise, surprise--Bill, because of course. So Mark is your typical toxic, misogynistic White male, and we see this as he makes all sorts of comments about Hayley, which only gets a "Watch yourself" from Bill. That's it? Again, not surprised. I always suspected that Bill was one of those guys, and sadly, we in the Black community know what I'm talking about. Every toxic, misogynistic White male has that group of buddies who stick up for him and join him in denigrating women, and that group happens to included that one POC who tows that line. We have a word for them, but I won't say it here. Bill is that one, and again, it does not shock me. The group of women want Naomi to sue her father's firm. I'll say the same thing I say when the Packers have a 4th and inches situation: "Go for it!"

The abbreviated week ended with this Wednesday episode, and the highlight for me had to be Leslie and Eva, and which saw Leslie address being ejected from Nicole's celebration. Here's the thing: Leslie thinks Ted was behind it. She has no clue that Eva had her ejected. Oh delicious! And as we see, Leslie is hellbent on destroying Ted and Nicole, but as she makes the plans, Eva's agreement becomes quite reluctant--not a lot, but enough. Is Eva on the verge of a babyface turn here? It's still way too early to say, but a few signs are there. I do hope that Eva does get further away from her mother's evil clutches, because again, Leslie's basically becoming this show's version of Sheila Carter.

And that's all she wrote on Week 4, as March Madness brought the week to an abrupt end. Though the tournament will continue on with the Sweet 16 on Thursday and Friday, the late times will allow Week 5 of Beyond the Gates to serve as a full week, and I'm elated to see what develops!
