"Beyond the Gates" Week 27 & 28 Review
A super-sized look at the last two weeks of the hit CBS soap

The month of September has been a wild one for sure. I myself have been focused on the incoming NFL season and the chaos of the final month of baseball, but Beyond the Gates remained in my mind, especially since August ended with Chelsea held captive by psycho Allison. Of course, as I mentioned in the Week 26 recap, the month of September started off with yet another hiatus--September 1-5 were full of reruns. My goodness.
The show was back on September 8 with the long awaited aftermath of Allison's demented "wedding" to Chelsea. But that's not all, folks. This recap covers the last two weeks, and a hell of a lot happened. But I will find a way to condense it somehow, so I'll just focus on the biggest highlight, in my view, from each week. So let's get this thing started.
Week 27 (September 8-12)

A lot happened in Week 27 (between September 8 and 12), beginning with Chelsea being rescued, Allison being arrested and still holding on to her many delusions, Ted pretty much tricking Leslie into believing that she had her dream home behind the gates, only for the whole thing to be a ruse, and Hayley continuing to make everything--even Chelsea's disappearance--about herself. Back to Ted. I was literally cheering when he fucked with Leslie like that. Finally, he totally grew a pair.
I should have known that Ted would use that to curry favor with Nicole, though. Hell, he pretty much showed it in the September 10 episode. Ted actually expected flowers. He expected applause. But most of all, he expected Nicole to literally throw herself at him because of how he played Leslie. Honestly, to me, it definitely looks like Ted is solely blaming Leslie for the end of his marriage to Nicole. Never mind the fact that Ted got with her behind Nicole's back in the first place. Never mind the fact that Ted put one in the proverbial net with Leslie. Never mind the fact that Ted kept it hid all this time until Leslie let it all out. In Ted's mind, Leslie, and Leslie alone, blew up his marriage. Wow.
So as a result, Ted was hit with the ultimate humiliation: bets were placed against him regarding Ted and Nicole, and everyone--Vernon, Anita, Dani, and even Bill, were all Team Nicole. It was a humorous moment, and it was a great way to really show Ted that he can't easily worm his way back into Nicole's life and good graces like that.
Week 28 (September 15-19)

Week 27 ended with Ashley actually proposing to Derek, but we all know what that was about. Derek popped the question months ago, but Ashley made about a thousand excuses not to accept. Yet Ashley decides to propose the moment that Derek is in such a vulnerable position, one she can control, and she's going around boasting about her engagement. The words "Munchausen by Proxy" come to mind when it comes to Ashley.
However, Derek's willingness to become Ashley's pet bitch isn't the highlight of the Week 28. Actually, it's Ted going all out to prove that he wouldn't survive 60 seconds in a Lifetime movie. With Ted, it's always one step forward and about 100 steps back, and it was on September 15 that Ted was getting wasted, bitching about Nicole, playing the victim, feeling like he deserved credit. Oh boy. And it gets worse. Once Leslie suddenly appears, it leads to so much messiness, and they actually hook up. It's in the beginning of the September 16 episode that they are shown in bed together, with Leslie not willing to wait to spread that word.
Eva reminded Ted about what he had just done by drunkenly hooking up with Leslie. Leslie's obsession with Ted had been semi-buried for the most part, but once they did the horizontal mambo, it all came back. Pandora's Box wasn't just opened, it was torn apart. Big time.

It's officially fall, summer is over, yet things couldn't be any hotter on Beyond the Gates. I sense some wild and crazy moments taking over the soap, and they'll be off the chain!
