Anime I wish I could burn from my memory

My personal opinion on anime I hated (Part 1)

By animetipzPublished about a year ago 5 min read

I have a curse. Whenever I start an anime I have to finish it. I am not sure why I am like that. Maybe I secretly hope it will get better or I'd rather check it off as finished so I don't feel like it was a complete waste of time. Either way, it is a curse and I have finished some pretty bad anime (In my opinion) Let's talk about them, shall we?

**SPOILER WARNING**

These aren't in any order or any particular genre. I'll give you a little bit of the storyline and then my opinions which will have spoilers. This will be a long list so I am going to break it into two parts. I promise the last 2 will surprise you.

I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Angel Beats!

Storyline: For most, life ends after death, but not for this group of teenagers, trapped in a high school teetering between the lines of life and death. Frustrated at their premature and unfair deaths, the teens stage a rebellion against God, desperate for their lives to have amounted to something. But as time passes, it becomes clear that their purgatory is not what it seems, nor is the quiet angel they fight against.

My Thoughts: I wanted to talk about Angel Beats first because I didn't think it was a bad anime. Wait wasn't this blog all about bad anime? Yes, but hear me out. I didn't personally like the show but it wasn't bad. When I ended the show I remember thinking "Was that it?" I felt no connection to the story or characters. It isn't one I recommend because I felt it was dry and wasn't entertaining. It felt like it was just building up to be sad and then ended sadly and that was the whole show. Although many people have enjoyed this show, I didn't.

School Days

Storyline: Makoto Itou has a crush on Kotonoha Katsura, who rides the same train as him daily. Following urban legend, he sets her photo as his phone wallpaper, a love charm. When classmate Sekai Saionji notices, it seems his luck really does change.

My thoughts: "What the hell is this?" I thought throughout the whole show. Talk about a show making me feel uncomfortable. It had a bazar storyline and the characters made me cringe. I have not thought about or wanted to think about this show since finishing it. I think this is one I successfully burned from my memory and for good reason.

100 girlfriends who really, really, really, really, really love you

Storyline: Rentarô Aijô decides to date all of his soulmates after Hakari Hanazono and Karane Inda confess to him at the same time God of Love tells him that they will die if any of his soulmates fail to get into a relationship with him.

My thoughts: The only reason to watch this show is if you are horny af and have a multiple-girlfriend fantasy. I almost didn't even add this to my finished list because I felt ashamed to even have watched it. The only reason I started it was because I saw a TikTok video saying how light-hearted and funny it is. I found out it is the definition of creepy. I can look past some of it but falling in love with a child who can change into an adult seems like a pedophile, and then falling in love with a girl and then meeting her mother and falling in love with her and then banging the mom while her daughter was in the other room made me want to wash my eyes out with bleach. Whoever wrote this needs therapy.

High-Rise Invasion

Storyline: High schooler Yuri finds herself atop a skyscraper in a strange world, where she must survive against masked assailants bent on killing their prey.

My Thoughts: I was so excited to watch this show! The story seemed super interesting, I loved the animation and I thought this would easily be an amazing show. Well, I was wrong. It has so much potential but it was covered in fanservice and a dry storyline. I don't think I have ever been more disappointed by an anime. I wouldn't recommend it unless you like boring stories with a lot of fan service.

Godzilla Singular Point

Storyline: Brought together by a mysterious song, a grad student and an engineer lead the fight against an unimaginable force that may spell doom for the world.

My thoughts: Another show with so much potential. I love Godzilla, of course, I was excited when I saw there was a Godzilla anime. However, that excitement was short-lived. This could have been an amazing anime, but the storyline felt rushed and all over the place, the animation of the monsters was horrible and overall it was boring. This is the only one on the list I'd recommend just because you might like it or just think it was boring.

A Condition Called Love

Storyline: Hotaru Hinase, a first-year high school student, witnesses Saki Hananoi breaking up with his girlfriend. Hotaru finally agrees to date him after he always helps her, even though she doesn't really understand love and romance.

My thoughts: I already know I am going to get some hate for putting this one on my list. Romance anime does have a fine line between sweet and creepy. To me, this romance was on the creepy stalker side. I can see how people might like the incient teen romance, and maybe if I had watched this show in high school I might have also loved it. But as an adult, I was just counting all of the red flags and getting creeped out by lines like "I don't want anyone else around you, I want you all to myself" Uh possessive much? He would also be a complete jerk to everyone he came into contact with except for her, another red flag. Anyway this show to me just creeped me out and I didn't find it to be romantic.

What anime did you hate? Do you agree or disagree with any of the ones I listed so far?

Subscribe for part 2!! I promise you will be shocked at the ones on the second half of the list!

High-Rise Invasion really was such a disappointment, the fanservice constantly was pretty heinous. I remember liking Angel Beats but I definitely agree with the characters being rather bland because I don’t remember any of them at all 😂 and School Days is terrible!! With such a weird ending too!
