Always Time For Some Looney Tunes
Memorable cartoon characters

Bugs Bunny
Warner Brothers got a gem of a rabbit when they created Bugs Bunny. He is known for his popular quote “What's up doc?” I could never figure out what doc he meant but I knew it was a clever way to ask someone what was happening. He was a healthy rabbit and was always eating fresh carrots.
He was a personality that you just had to love both clever and intelligent, He could run circles around Elmer Fudd and get that guy so confused. He loved to do all kinds of wild and crazy things to Daffy Duck who just couldn't outsmart the “wacky wabbit”.
Bugs Bunny was like the best friend I could ever wish for especially at the age of four.
The Carrot Conversation
At the age of four I did not even reach to the top of the kitchen table. I knew mom placed all kinds of food on the table when preparing a meal but I had to get on a chair to reach anything on the table, Even getting up on the chair provided problems for my little legs. I had just watched another Bugs Bunny cartoon and now I was determined to get a carrot. While mom was occupied at the sink I managed to swip a cleaned carrot from the table. Sensing my prescence mom turned around.
“What are you crunching on?”
“A carrot”.
“You don't like carrots raw or cooked”.
“I do now because my best friend Bugs Bunny eats carrots”.
I was lucky my mom didn't pass out from sheer surprise. Of course, after this she would always smile watching me eat a carrot and I know she was also very fond of Bugs Bunny.
Daffy Duck

One of the problems this daffy duck had was that he was compared to Disney's Donald Duck. It was no wonder that Daffy was a black duck because he stood out from other ducks. He was such a misunderstood duck and in any family he would have been the “black sheep” of the family.
He did have memorable things going for him like his crazy laughter and his way of jumping around like he had a few screws loose. Daffy was daffy in all sense of the word but after some time spent watching him life certainly seemed a whole lot jollier. He always tried to get the better of Bugs Bunny but he just didn't have the intellegence of the rabbit. One of the best quotes I loved was:
“I am a duck bent on self-preservation”.
His most popular was “Sufferin’ succotash!”
Let me tell you as a kid that was losing her teeth this was the hardest to say.
Elmer Fudd

Poor Elmer devoted this life to trying to outwit Bugs Bunny. It never dawned on this guy that he was just wasting his time and driving himself crazy trying to find way to get Bugs into a Bunny Stew.
Some of his memorable quotes:
Be vewy vewy quiet, I’m hunting wabbits!, He-e-e-e-e! And at the moment Elmer said this you could see Bugs Bunny somewhere close by already thinking about ways to outsmart this hunter.
Then the one that always cracked me up was Say your pwayers, wabbit!
Simply because it always turned out that Elmer Fudd needed to say his prayers more than Bugs Bunny.
Porky Pig

What's not to love about an optimistic pig that was always a happy-go-lucky individual. Porky appeared to be a shy and at times moody pig but pretty much he got what he wanted out of every situation he was in.
His most distinctive trait was his stutter and boy, did Porky stutter. He's fondly remembered at the end of a cartoon saying "Th-Th-The, Th-Th-The, Th-Th... That's all, folks!"
Tweety

How I loved that yellow bird with the big head who sat swinging in his cage. He had a rough time getting to outsmart the nasty cat Sylvester but their crazy adventures were fun to watch.
Tweety is known for this popular quote “I tink I taw a puddy tat. I did, I did see a puddy tat” at which point nasty Sylvester showed up.
Sylvester the Cat

If there ever was a cat born under an unlucky star it was Sylvester. Try as he might he just couldn't outwit Tweety. This cat was always determined but never got the bird.
Among his quotes is “Life is too short to be serious all the time, chase some birds!” Except for the chasing birds part yes, life is too short to be serious all the time so watch some classic cartoon episodes.
Another quote I love “A nap a day keeps the stress away.” Now with that Sylvester and I think alike.
Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote

All those crazy but enjoyable Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons sure made me tired watching them running around like crazy. However, it was Wile who brought out the creativity in me. After watching him put together all those ACME products he ordered to help in racing after the Roadrunner I finally decided that I could create some things of my own. Nothing to do with what the coyote was into but it did make me start to paint and draw and I enjoyed many fun times being a masterful painter.

What encouraged me to keep trying and always cracked me up is this Wile E. Coyote quote "Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Mud." And don't we all sometimes fail as long as we do like the coyote pull ourselves up by our “bootstraps” and get back into the game.
Foghorn Leghorn

This rooster ran the barnyard with an iron hand and had a very smart mouth and wit. I would say he was quite an intelligent rooster and some of this quotes were very memorable.
“This boy's more mixed up than a feather in a whirlwind.”
That dog's as subtle as a hand grenade in a barrel of oat meal”.
Taz the Tasmanian Devil

And then there was Taz the Tasmanian Devil from Australia. He looked odd, was funny, and very memorable. He was full of grunts and sounds and had very little patience but you had to love him.
Pepe Le Pew

What's not to love about a smelly, handsome skunk you is a real romantic. With his French accent he could be considered quite debonaire. It was that smelly part that made poor Pepe strike out at romance all the time but he did try. Pepe Le Pew is often depicted as a suave and debonair skunk who believes himself to be a highly desirable lover. I think that one of his problems was that he tried to romance cats not other skunks.
Some Pepe Le Pew quotes “There are plenty of fish in the ocean…… if you like fish. Personally, I prefer girls. Hmmmm, call it a weakness.”
“You are the corned beef, and I am the cabbage. The corned beef is nothing without the cabbage.”

I needed this! One of my neighborhood friends called my step dad Elmer Fudd. I loved saying " suffrin succotash", too. Those Saturday morning cartoons started off our perfect weekend ☺️ Great recount of all of these special characters!
