We are now just over a month away from the Disney Plus premiere of the long-awaited WandaVision spin-off Agatha All Along, starring Kathryn Hahn as she reprises the role of centuries-old witch Agatha Harkness. The second trailer for the series, released at the recent D23 Expo, expands on what we already knew about the series plot, which will see Agatha build a coven of unlikely allies to walk the Witches' Road, with whoever survives said to earn their heart's desire at the end.

Agatha's Coven will be formed of both original characters, such as Aubrey Plaza's Rio Vidal, and those recognisable from Marvel Comics. Most are known Witches, or at least have confirmed magical potential. One surprising addition to the coven, however, is Debra Jo Rupp, reprising her WandaVision role as Mrs. Hart/Sharon Davis. While some fans believe Sharon has been roped into the coven simply to make up numbers, others have developed a theory that she may have her own reason to walk the Witches' Road, and it is potentially a heartbreaking one.

Let's look back at the character's role in WandaVision before we unpack the theory.

"And his Dear Lady Wife.."

The character made her first appearance in WandaVision's first episode, 'Filmed Before A Live Studio Audience'. She was introduced as Mrs. Hart, the 'Dear Lady Wife' of Vision's boss, Mr. Hart, played by Fred Melamed. The couple attend what is said to be an important dinner at Wanda and Vision's house.

In what is still one of the series most unsettling scenes, and the first sign to viewers that something truly was not right with this world, Mr. Hart begins to choke during dinner, while a still grinning Mrs. Hart begs Wanda to 'Stop it!'. Mr. Hart is saved when Wanda orders Vision to help. Mrs. Hart then appears briefly in episode two, 'Don't Touch That Dial', attending the neighborhood talent show.

The fourth episode, 'We Interrupt This Program', reveals that outside the Hex, Mr and Mrs. Hart are Westview residents Todd and Sharon Davis. Sharon is seen briefly in a flashback to Wanda's arrival in Westview in episode eight 'Previously On..', but we do not actually meet her as herself until the finale.

When Agatha frees Westview's residents from Wanda's mind control en masse, a panicked and overwhelmed Wanda almost strangles them all. During this scene, Sharon begs:

"If you won't let us go, just let us die, please.."

Her words are the shock Wanda needs to open the Hex long enough for the residents to flee. Sharon later appears once more in a background shot, being checked by medics.

During WandaVision's airing, many fans suspected that Dottie Jones/Sarah Proctor (played by Buffy alumni Emma Caufield, also set to reprise her role in Agatha All Along) could be a secret witch, this was not the case with Sharon. For this reason, her inclusion as a member of Agatha's coven initially came as a surprise. However, with many beginning to rewatch WandaVision in preparation for Agatha All Along, eyes wide open for clues, a new theory has emerged.

Sharon's husband, Todd Davis/Mr. Hart, appeared only in the first episode of WandaVision. In all her subsequent appearances over the rest of the series, Sharon is alone.

With every other known resident of Westview appearing on a recurring basis, Todd's absence sticks out. The new theory proposes that the reason for the character's absence beyond episode one is that in the real world, Todd is seriously ill or even dying. Wanda, perhaps sensing this, left him in the same state of suspended animation as Westview's children, and the people at the further edges of town.

If true, this illness has likely progressed in Agatha All Along, which takes place a currently unspecified amount of time after WandaVision. The theory goes on to say that, while she may in fact be there to make up the numbers, Sharon Davis could have been tempted into the coven by the Witches' Road's promised prize. If she makes it to the end, she can cure her sick husband.. But she'll have to make it first.

The first two episodes of Agatha All Along hit Disney Plus on September 18.
