A Filmmaker's Guide to the 40 Things You Should Know About "Pulp Fiction" (1994)
Premiere: 12-05-1994

Pulp Fiction (1994) is normally a favourite amongst the clan of 'movie buffs' who watch Fight Club on a regular basis and live in their mother's basements at the age of 35. But, it has been analysed and analysed and over analysed by these people that the movie itself has become a kind of cliché whilst these men pretend to be edgy movie-goers, they have pretty much worn the film out for most people.
However, the film itself is an enjoyable piece of art, no matter how overrated it is. This and "Reservoir Dogs" (1992) seem to launch the career of Tarantino into the spotlight and cause him to make a series of movies dedicated to this idea of neo-noir all-american crime. That's something that has rarely been done before. But no, these 'pretending-to-be-edgy-men' have worn the film out by going 'there's a pop culture reference I recognise' every three seconds whilst you're trying to watch the film. Then they take the time to explain it to you and by the time they do, the movie is over. Dear men everywhere, liking "Pulp Fiction" (1994), one of the most recognisable films of all time, isn't 'edgy', 'different' or 'cool'. You just like what everyone else likes, get over yourself.
