12th Fail Movie Explained

So the story of 12th Fail begins in a small village of Chambal where a boy named Manoj is sitting on the roof of his house and making answer sheets to pass the 12th exam. Then a suspension notice comes to his house from the post office. Manoj's father had refused to take a bribe from his boss, due to which this dispute happened, and the matter reached the police.

Now Manoj's father goes to the city to fight a case, due to which the responsibility of the house falls on Manoj

Manoj and his brother Kamlesh drive a car together.

One day when both of them fight with a MLA's man, the police arrest both of them and send them to jail. Here Manoj meets DSP, who impresses him a lot and expresses his desire to become like him, to which DSP replies that to become like me, you will have to give up cheating.

Inspired by DSP, Manoj decides to give up cheating and passes the 12th class without any help or cheat code. After this, he prepares for UPSC for three years with full honesty.

Manoj's mother sold all the cows that were once a part of their house to run the household expenses, and Manoj was determined that now he would become a DSP.

When Manoj cleared BA, his grandmother blessed him by giving him her pension money and said that now you should return only after becoming a DSP.

Manoj boards a bus to go to Gwalior but falls asleep on the way. On reaching Gwalior, he finds out that all his belongings have been stolen and now he can neither return nor does he have a single penny. Actually, a lady who was sitting next to him on the bus cheated on him.

When Manoj was wandering for coaching, he came to know that DSP recruitment had been banned because the government did not have money.

Now Manoj fed up with hunger, goes to a dhaba and asks for food from the owner. The dhaba owner gives Manoj food for free. A boy named Sundar listens to Manoj's story and says that his DSP exam has also been cancelled.

Further Sundar tells Manoj that he is going to Delhi to prepare for UPSC Now Manoj asks what is that, and Sundar tells him that this is a bigger post than DSP, Manoj tells Sundar to take him along with him, and I will do whatever you say, Sundar agrees and takes Manoj with him to Delhi Mukherjee Nagar.

After reaching Delhi, Manoj sees many students there and he gets nervous.

Sundar introduces Manoj to a tea seller who tells him that Gauri Bhaiya will become an IPS this time.

After meeting Gauri Bhaiya, Manoj learns about UPSC. He asks Gauri Bhaiya for help in getting a small job so that he can continue his studies.

Then Gauri Bhaiya gets Manoj a cleaning job in the library where Manoj starts working.

After a few days, Gauri Bhaiya's UPSC result comes but he fails. However, Gauri Bhaiya is not one to give up. He says that if any of you gets selected, then consider that I have also succeeded.

After this, Gauri Bhaiya starts teaching children.

Now Manoj's story gets more complicated. In his first attempt, he fails the UPSC exam. Manoj was not going to give up; he again started preparing for the UPSC and began helping Gauri Bhaiya at his shop.

One day, while serving tea, Manoj reaches a group of English medium students where he meets Sundar's sir Deep Mohan who has now become an IPS. Deep Mohan tells Manoj that if you ever need help, take help from me.

After a year, Manoj took the exam again, and this time, he cleared the prelims, but for the preparation of the mains, he went to a coaching institute where the fees were very high.

Manoj says I have a little money and I will pay the rest gradually, you please get me some work here, the girl says that she will see something meanwhile, some clients come there and then Manoj sees a photo there and Manoj tells the girl that madam I know this boy in the photo frame and he has not taken any coaching from you.

That madam takes Manoj inside and starts scolding him that we have given him money so that we can leave his name with our institute. Then the clients who have come ask the girl whether that boy did not study from here, and Manoj reveals the whole truth to them on hearing this: Shraddha and her father, who had come to get admission in the coaching leave from there.

He is Deep Mohan whose photo Manoj sees there.

But Shraddha gets to know that Manoj has cleared the prelims without coaching which surprises her.

After a few days, Shraddha visits the library where Manoj used to work.

After this, both of them go to Divyakirti sir's coaching to study. Divyakirti sir praises Manoj a lot because he has written a great essay on terrorism. Shraddha also praises Manoj a lot.

But one day, the library owner accused Manoj of theft, and Manoj quit his job in anger, and now he starts working at a flour mill.

Sundar goes to meet Manoj one day and tells him to go and meet Shraddha, who is going to Mussoorie, but Manoj refuses and says that he will meet anyone only after clearing the mains.

Manoj takes the mains exam again but fails again. Then, disappointed, he reaches Mussoorie to meet Shraddha, but he does not find Shraddha there. He says I love you to Shraddha on the phone but Shraddha replies that now we do not have time for all this.

Now Manoj returns home and finds out that his grandmother has passed away and his father is still stuck in court cases. His mother says that it was your grandmother's dream that you become a big officer, so now you will return as a big officer for her.

Manoj returns to the flour mill and starts working day and night.

After a few days, Manoj's father comes to take Manoj home, but Manoj says that he will return only after becoming an IPS officer.

Manoj starts studying in Divyakirti sir's coaching again. Shraddha comes to meet him and apologizes for the day when Manoj reaches her home in Mussoorie, but Manoj says that it doesn't matter, I still have to focus only on mains.

Then, after a few months, the result comes: Sundar fails again, but Manoj clears prelims again.

Shraddha goes to tell Manoj but she finds him working at a flour mill. She says you have a lot of potential but you will not be able to prepare from here. Manoj does not listen to Shraddha and says I will do this work and prepare for mains again.

After a few days, Manoj takes the mains exam again and fails again.

One night Manoj and Shraddha are sitting outside Gauri Bhaiya's tea stall when Sundar comes and tells Shraddha that if you had not distrusted Manoj, he would have cleared the mains today. Shraddha starts leaving from there crying but Manoj stops her and says whatever happens happens for good.

Shraddha then tells Manoj that you had told me that if I say I love you to you, you will turn the world upside down. Hearing this Manoj gets boosted. While answering Shraddha he runs to IPS Deep Mohan.

After meeting Deep sir, Manoj tells him about his difficulties, and then Deep sir advises him to work on his writing skills.

While working at Gauri Bhaiya's shop, Gauri Bhaiya tells Manoj that you will never clear UPSC if you keep working like this. Hearing this, Manoj agrees to Gauri Bhaiya and shifts to the room.

Now Manoj starts studying with full dedication.

After a few days, Shraddha comes to Manoj with old notes and tells him that she is going to Mussoorie to take the main exam. Both hug each other and Shraddha leaves.

After some time, Gaur Bhaiya tells him that Shraddha has cleared the mains, which makes Manoj happy.

Manoj also gives the mains exam, and this time, he also passes. However, Sundar still fails and angrily tells Manoj that it doesn't matter to me whether you pass or fail, but Manoj replies to him, tell all this to your father, not me.

Then Manoj gets a call from Shraddha, and she tells him that someone has told him something wrong about both of them to Shraddha's father. Then Manoj suspects Sundar and calls him but Manoj finds out that Sundar is in jail. Then he goes and gets him released from jail.

Manoj then checks Sundar's phone and finds out that it was Sundar who had called Shraddha's father.

Sundar says to Manoj, forgive me; I made a mistake, Manoj leaves there after fighting.

On the day of the interview, Gauri Bhaiya makes Manoj wear a tie, and then Shraddha comes and tells him that she has now become a deputy collector. Manoj is very happy and then Shraddha and Manoj meet Sundar.

Manoj thanks Sundar and says that if you had not brought me here, I would never have reached here. Sundar apologizes and both of them become friends again.

When Manoj goes for the interview, he is asked how he failed in 12th, to which Manoj replies that a new DSP sir came to our village who stopped cheating, and the whole school failed.

Then a question is asked in the interview: what will you do if you are not able to become an IPS? In response to this, Manoj says I will return to my village and teach the children so that they never cheat.

Manoj thinks that his last attempt also went in vain but on the day of the result, the news comes that he has become an IPS. He tells this good news to his family members and everyone rejoices.

Manoj goes to a police station wearing his IPS dress where he meets DSP sir. DSP sir is the same person who had asked Manoj to stop cheating. He salutes sir, and DSP sir is very happy to recognize him, and this is where the movie ends with a happy ending.
