Borderlands 4 Sidney Pointylegs: How to Farm Legendary Gear Early on

By niubillPublished 4 months ago 3 min read

If you're looking to farm some sweet Legendary gear in Borderlands 4, then look no further than Sidney Pointylegs. Trust me when I say this guy is a loot piñata of sorts, and he’s not just another run-of-the-mill boss. Sidney is one of the strangest enemies you’ll encounter in the game: a huge Psycho head on a spider-like robot body. If you’re into farming for powerful gear early in the game, he’s one of the best bosses to target. In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to find Sidney and break down the best ways to farm him for loot.

Finding Sidney Pointylegs

Sidney is located in the Prospects area of the Hungering Plain in the Fadefields region. This area is a bit tricky to navigate, but if you’ve unlocked the Someday Rise Safehouse in Idolator's Noose, you’re in the right spot. From there, you’ll need to head across the nearby bridge, and you’ll find the Prospects—basically a small bandit camp filled with enemies to wipe out.

The first time you clear out the camp, you’ll unlock the Encore machine for Sidney, which should appear next to the ammo vending machine near the respawn point. This will be your launchpad for the boss fight every time you want to farm him.

Farming Sidney Pointylegs

Now, let’s talk about how to take down Sidney. This boss has three separate health bars, and each one corresponds to a different damage type: Shields, Armor, and regular health. So, you need to be prepared for a prolonged fight if you don’t have the right weapons.

For those of you who haven’t fully maxed out your character or don’t yet have an optimized build for farming, my suggestion would be to use a Jakobs weapon (or any gun with Jakobs parts). Jakobs weapons are amazing for taking down Sidney’s head, and they have a great ricochet mechanic. The ricochet effect will also help you clean up the small enemies that spawn during the fight, which is essential since Sidney tends to be surrounded by smaller mobs.

Another useful piece of gear for farming Sidney is the Beam Tosser underbarrel attachment. Because Sidney’s head is large and vulnerable, this attachment’s wide beam will land multiple shots with every use, making it perfect for dealing consistent damage to the boss. It's especially handy if you don’t want to waste time aiming precisely at each weak spot.

Legendary Drops

So, what can you expect to get from Sidney? Well, there are a couple of Legendary items that stand out from his loot pool:

  • The Noisy Cricket: A fun weapon, but it’s not the easiest to use effectively. If you plan on using the Noisy Cricket, you’ll need to pair it with a specific build. I recommend the First Impression skill in Rafa’s APOPHIS Lance tree, combined with Vitriol in the Arc Knives tree. This setup will double the damage on every shot you fire from the Noisy Cricket, making it significantly more powerful.
  • The Disc Jockey: This one is a bit of a niche weapon, but if you pair it with the Endless Bombardment skill from the Crucible skill tree on Amon, you can make it absolutely devastating. The high uptime on the skill allows the Disc Jockey to dish out damage for long periods, especially useful in larger fights or for clearing mobs.

So, whether you’re looking for a new toy to mess around with or aiming to beef up your build, Sidney Pointylegs is a great early-game boss to target. His loot pool is solid, and with the right gear and setup, you can easily farm him for some legendary weapons that will carry you through your journey Borderlands 4 Cash.

Happy farming, Vault Hunter!
