The Latest TarkovTV Podcast was Massive, Except...

There is one major problem I foresee in the future...

If you’re a fan of Tarkov and have been waiting to see the new stuff that is up and coming with the game, well then, you’re probably eating really good right now. This Wednesday, we just got a huge TarkovTV podcast with Nikita, going over tons of new features and content for Tarkov, and it’s all coming a lot sooner than at least I anticipated. New guns, mechanics, Streets expansion; there was a lot packed into this one stream. And it was all juicy goodness, with one exception. But we’ll talk about that at the end.

Before we begin, I just wanted to let you know that I don’t have access to the raw mp4’s of all the videos they showed, so I went ahead and clipped almost everything of importance they showed off. So, in the description of the video, there will be links to all the clips I made for each change so you can visually see them. Sorry, I know it’s weird, but I wanted to at least do that. Firstly, they updated the roadmap they put out a little while ago. The wipe is in August. Which, honestly kind of shocked me. I wasn’t expecting to get a patch/wipe combo this soon. I figured it would be at the end of the year. But it seems like patch .14 has been kind of split in half and is now being served to us in two different points. Next month, and then once again at the end of the year in December. So, this coming wipe cycle will only be roughly four months long. That’s significantly shorter than the last handful we’ve had. Which is honestly a breath of fresh air. Because of any additions or changes you might’ve been excited for, that are now in December, you don’t have to wait that long. Considering we’re almost 200 days with this wipe cycle, we’re going to blink, and it’ll be time to wipe once more. So, that’s awesome. But what else are we getting. Well, if we look at the updated roadmap they showed off, which I’ll leave on screen for a while a I talk, you can see it’s a ton of stuff, even just in the August update. Loadout presets which people have wanted for a while, loot containers being random which is going to make stash running less effective and you’ll have to be much more thorough with where you look for loot. Quick selecting body parts to heal with meds, very similar to how you can select which mag you want to reload. Helmet lights being fully implemented, which honestly, from what they showed off, they’re SO close to getting it right. My only problem with what I saw is that the light source is still angled too low towards the ground. If they just raised the angle so it was closer to the center of your screen, it would be perfect. Granted, they could change it to do just that, but again, going off just what we were shown, it’s almost there but not quite. Being able to sell everything off a scav run to Fence for an estimated flat price is also awesome. Even if it doesn’t min/max your potential revenue from selling things to the best traders, for people who are lazy or just want to get back on their PMC this is a great solution.

Finally, we are getting faster swapping speeds to sidearms, and it is considerably faster than before. It’s hard to give an exact amount, but I’d say it’s at least twice as fast as where it is now. I’ve talked about this on the channel before, and I have advocated for sidearms getting way faster, and it seems like it’s finally happening, which is awesome. Streets is getting bigger which is cool, but rip everyone’s RAM and GPU’s, your sacrifice will not be in vain. With that comes the new Boss for Streets, whose name is Kaban. And he will most likely be the only way to get your hands on one of the new weapons, the PKM. And after watching them showcase the animations for the gun, just reinforces that Tarkov has the best weapon animations in all of shooters, and it’s not even close. They also showed off the SVT, as well as new animations for the PM pistols. Honestly, I know they are just Makarov’s and are bad in game, but they look so much better. They are some of the oldest weapons in the game after all. And of course, lots of QoL changes and optimizations which we can look forward to too. So, I know some people are going to be disappointed that these changes are being separated into two patches, but it was a lot to try and cram into one wipe. And besides, we are so deep into this wipe, BSG knows they need to wipe soon, which is why this is the format they went for. After the August update, we can expect some more news about Arena and potentially being able to finally play it for the first time, which I am very excited about. The December update also has lots of goodies too, but besides the Armor changes, they didn’t show too much from it and just talked about what’s coming. However, one thing they did show off at the end of the stream, was their work in progress for updating the recoil across Tarkov.

Now again, this is very much work in progress and could look and feel completely differently than what was shown. But my initial guttural reaction to seeing the footage was, I am very concerned. I had to watch it multiple times in a row to be able to articulate why I am concerned, but I think it boils down to how the camera is when a weapon is fired. When looking at it, the guns muzzle no longer rises towards the sky when fired in full auto which is cool. It stays much flatter towards the horizon, but the problem for me stems from how the camera seems to be locked in place when the PMC shoots. Essentially, all view kick from that is currently in the game has been removed in this demonstration. Now with only gun kick being present when fired, it makes the whole thing look jank and out of place. Which makes the weapons’ recoil feel so alien and out of place. Where the bullets go and where the guns barrel is facing makes complete sense, but there is something so visually wrong, my eyes immediately went no I don’t like this. Maybe it’s the guns they chose to demonstrate this. Maybe it’s just the red dot sight they chose. But even then, they showed off a Vudu scope and it looked even worse than with the red dot. And people can full auto with some guns on the 1x of the Vudu and Razor. This was on the 6x but still. Single fire doesn’t look too bad, but it’s the full auto where I physically winched when looking at this. I’m very curious what others think about this because again, it is very much a work in progress and can completely change, but right now, this for me, isn’t it. It’s hard to explain and put into words, without sounding like a ridiculous person, but out of the whole livestream, this was the singular change they showed off where I vehemently disagreed with it. It's the direction of where they want the recoil to be, I guess. Nikita mentioned the “direction” of recoil in Tarkov during the stream, and no, not where it physically goes, but their philosophy on the mechanic. And he wants compensation to stay in the game, which is fine. But right now, to me personally, and I know I’m going to get flack for this, it looks like they just locked the camera and made the guns stay more horizontal when shooting.

But other than that, the entire stream was great. It was nice to see Nikita, and it seems like he is doing well. I hope he and the team are because obviously they have been hard at work with these upcoming patches, and I commend BSG for that. Thank you for your continued support of the game, despite all the happenings that go on in the community. But what are your thoughts about all the changes coming? Please leave your feedback down below and subscribe for more update videos about Tarkov hopefully getting the changes it needs to be successful. I hope to see you inf future ones.
