10 Funny Campfire Skits to Keep Everyone Laughing
No camping trip is complete without a night full of fun around a campfire. Storytelling and roasting marshmallows are classics, but a few funny campfire skits can take the fun to another level. These funny skits are perfect whether you’re camping with family, friends, or scouts.
10 Easy and comical campfire skits that need little props
The Invisible Bench

Number of Performers: 4-6
What You Need: Nothing but your imagination!
How It Works:
The first performer enters the scene, pretending to sit down on an "invisible bench."
The second, third, and fourth performers arrive in turn and query what they’re doing.
Each responds, “Sitting on the invisible bench,” and participates.
The final person looks puzzled and replies, “But I moved the bench this morning!”
In fact, all the people who pretended to sit suddenly fell down!
The skit gets huge laughs every time thanks to its unexpected ending.
The Lost Wallet

Number of Performers: 2-3
What You Need: A wallet, or a folded piece of paper.
How It Works:
You have one person who plays a wallet owner searching high and low for their missing wallet.
Another person pops up and asks, “What are you looking for?”
The owner of the wallet explains, and the second person volunteers to help search.
After searching for a few minutes, the second pulls the wallet from their own pocket and says, “Is this what you’re looking for?”
“Oh! That looks just like mine!” and keeps searching.
The laughter comes from recognizing the lost wallet — and the person who refuses to acknowledge he found it.
The Magic Water

Number of Performers: 3-5
What You’ll Need: One cup of water (or an imaginary one).
How It Works:
Someone has “magic water” that turns people stupid.
Each performer takes a sip and immediately responds with some hilarious action — dancing, acting like a chicken, speaking gibberish, etc.
The last person seems reluctant to drink.
The leader persuades them, but when they take a sip, nothing happens.
The leader says, “Oops! That was just normal water!”
It’s the unpredictability of the reactions that makes this skit funny.
The Echo Game

Number of Performers: 2+
What You’ll Need: Just your voices!
How It Works:
One performer plays tour guide, explaining that they are in a valley where the echo forever mimics exactly what they say.
They show by calling, “Hello! and another performer (the echo) responds, “Hello!”
The guide lists a number of phrases, which the echo replicates perfectly.
All of a sudden, the guide shouts something strange like, “I’m the smartest person in the world!” but the echo says, “That’s what YOU think!”
The skit gets huge laughs as the echo starts to have a mind of its own.
The Laughing Disease

Number of Performers: 3-6
What You Need: You don’t need anything!
How It Works:
Someone walks in and bursts into a fit of laughter.
A third person walks over and says, “What’s so funny?” but soon starts laughing too.
The new people come, one after another, and, like the others, get the “laughing disease.”
The last person to arrive walks in stone-faced and says, “Why is everyone laughing?”
If someone tries to explain, they can’t and they start laughing again.
This is a great skit because laughter is contagious!
The Banana Bandits

Number of Performers: 3-4
What You Need: A banana (or one you pretend to eat).
How It Works:
Two “bandits” break-in, discussing a mysterious, stolen object they are concealing.
They behave suspiciously while attempting not to get caught.
A detective walks in and asks what they are hiding.
After much drama, they finally unveil … a banana!
The detective shakes their head, and says, “You’re under arrest — for being ridiculous!”
The hyperbolic melodrama elevates this to a hit.
The Sneaky Snake

Number of Performers: 2-3
What You’ll Need: A rope or belt as a fake “snake”
How It Works:
One camper said there was a dangerous “invisible snake” in the area.
They look at the ground and pretend to see it move.
A second camper gets inquisitive and attempts to touch it.
The first camper yells, “No! It’s dangerous!” and runs away dramatically.
The second camper grabs a rope from the ground and says: “You mean THIS snake?
This skit is ideal for surprising the audience.
The Talking Dog

Number of Performers: 2-3
What You Need: A stuffed animal or nothing.
How It Works:
Someone walks in and says they have a talking dog.
Another camper responds, “Dogs can’t talk!”
The owner asks the dog questions such as, “What’s on top of a house?”
A hidden assistant responds, indoors: “Roof!”
The skeptic asks questions, and the dog gives the answers, all based on wordplay.
Then finally the skeptic relents and says, “Fine, but I was expecting actual words.”
What Sets It All Apart: The hilarious wordplay that makes this skit unique.
The Ghostly Hitchhiker

Number of Performers: 2-3
What You Need: A flashlight, for the atmosphere.
How It Works:
A driver miming to drive a car when they see a hitchhiker.
The hitchhiker they pick up is acting strange.
The driver begins to tell a story about a ghostly hitchhiker who vanishes before reaching a destination.
When they look back, the hitchhiker has disappeared! (They secretly sneak away.)
It's a cute, kooky skit about a spooky encounter.
The Superhero Auditions

Number of Performers: 4-6
What You Need: None, just your imagination!
How It Works:
A “casting director” is auditioning superheroes for a film.
Each artist arrives as an absurd superhero (such as “Super Sleepy,” who never fails to fall asleep).
The casting director responds to their strange strengths.
Then they give up, and they say, “I’ll just do a movie about NORMAL people!”
