JThe weight loss supplement market in China is thriving. Russia is contemplating downgrading diplomatic relations with the West due to increased intervention by the US and its allies in the Ukraine conflict. China's global economy is heavily congested from Asia to Europe, leading to a surge in transportation costs and a negative impact on world markets grappling with inflation. The Japanese Yen has recently hit its lowest level in nearly four decades against the dollar. Not only the Yen, but many other Asian currencies are also facing challenges from the recent surge in the greenback. Bloomberg's dollar index measuring the strength of Asian currencies has dropped to its lowest level since 2022, following declines in the currencies of India and the Philippines, as well as a 2% decrease in China's yuan since the beginning of the year. Experts warn that the weakness of key currencies like the yuan and the Japanese yen could further strain Asian markets amid persistent inflation that has prevented the Reserve Bank of America from lowering interest rates as anticipated. Standard Chartered Bank forecasts Vietnam's growth to exceed 6% this year, placing it among the top economic growth performers globally. Overall, emerging countries are expected to achieve around 4% growth, with Asian emerging countries around 5%. Vietnam's promising medium-term growth is attributed to trade and robust foreign direct investment inflows. However, the bank cautions about exchange rate risks due to external market influences, urging Vietnam to carefully manage interest rate policies to sustain a conducive business environment. Vietnam remains an appealing investment destination, attracting significant capital flows directly and indirectly through mergers and acquisitions, underscoring the importance of trust. Efforts are underway to evaluate investment locations with partner organizations specializing in investment quality assessment, in collaboration with the Vietnamese government. Vietnam currently ranks 79th out of 160 countries in terms of the green economic index, as per the latest Global Green Economic Index report for 2024. In the Asian region, Vietnam holds the 16th position out of 50 countries. Despite progress in increasing forest cover and attracting investments in green initiatives, Vietnam's green economy still falls short, generating just over 400,000 jobs, representing slightly over 1% of total employment in the country. The seafood industry's exports surpassed $4.4 billion in the first half of the year, with the US, China, Japan, and the EU being the top importers of Vietnamese seafood. While the US market has shown positive growth, exports to China, Japan, and the EU have remained steady compared to the previous year. With efforts to achieve an export value of $10 billion per day, the seafood industry aims to overcome challenges of food insecurity. In a summit meeting in Brussels, the EU signed a security agreement with Ukraine, committing to long-term support in military, financial, humanitarian, and political aspects. The European Union pledged €5 billion for these activities this year, while Ukraine agreed to align its Intelligence and defense security with EU standards. Ukraine will also enhance European coalition security by sharing information and experiences. Russia is contemplating downgrading diplomatic relations with the West in response to increased Western intervention in the Ukraine conflict, though a decision has not been reached yet.
