September Is An Interesting Month

In the Julian and Gregorian calendars, September is the ninth month of the year. It is one of four months with 30 days, the others being April, June, and November.

3. Aster: There are about 180 species of aster. The name comes from an Ancient Greek word meaning "star" based on the shape of the flower head. Many species and varieties are popular as garden plants because they are attractive and colorful. Asters are symbols of powerful love, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.

September's birthstone is the sapphire, which symbolizes clear thinking. Sapphires and rubies are two color varieties of the same mineral.
