A Glimpse into the Mysterious History of Anantha Padmanabhan Swamy Temple

According to history, the Padmanabhan temple was built in the 16th century, but some say that it may be much older, dating back to the time of the Mahabharata. The temple is still maintained by the royal family and is considered to be the wealthiest temple in the world.

The Six Secret Rooms

The temple is known to have six secret doors, and while three have been opened, the other three have remained closed for over 500 years. The temple administrators have attempted to open these doors, but the royal family has forbidden it. The temple's architecture is considered to be the best of its time, leading many to believe that secret rooms were built into it during construction. The rooms that have been opened contain valuables made of gold and silver, including a 3-foot-tall statue of Padmanabhan, made entirely of gold and coins and artifacts from various civilizations around the world. The treasure is said to be worth trillions of dollars.

The Secret of the Last Door

The temple has been sued several times in court and 6 doors have been opened. Yes, all the rooms in this temple are open but the 6th door is open and there is another iron door inside it. So, the government has announced that this door could not be fully opened. Because there is no key or lock to open this last door, it is said that it can only be opened by chanting some mantra.

They broke open all the wooden doors but when they opened the last door, there was another door inside it. This door is made of iron. It is said that this door does not have a key. It is said that it can be opened only by chanting a special mantra. There is no key for this door. These doors are engraved with the shape of snakes. This door is also known as the Nagabanda door.

Even today it is considered a secret door as it could not be opened even after several attempts to open it. This door is near Garbha planet. It is said that a few Naga verses from the Garuda Purana can unlock it.

Only Siddhas and sages who have learned the Nagabandha mantra, one of the mantras, can open it. But it is said that there is no such special person in this period, so they said that this door cannot be opened. Only those who know Nagabandha well can open this door.

The temple is said to contain objects of immeasurable value, including gold, diamonds, coins from various kings such as the Chera, Chola, and Pandya, and statues of gods such as Vishnu and Ashoka. The Indian government reportedly discovered two additional rooms during a visit to the temple, bringing the total number of rooms to eight.

A Look into the Past

Evidence suggests that the temple dates back to the 10th century, as mentioned in Nammalwar hymns. The temple was first built by King Peruman of the Chera dynasty and was later renovated nine thousand years ago. In 1686, the temple was destroyed by a fire but was rebuilt in 1729 by Marthanda Varman, the king of Travancore.

It is also said that during the reign of Queen Umayyad in the 17th century, a foreigner named Mukil Khan attempted and the British tried to loot its properties, it is said that the gold may have been safely stored inside the cellars and the traces of gold in the cellars may have been destroyed due to the wars that took place during the transition from one generation to the next generation.

After hundreds of years, the cellars have been discovered and are now open, although a few doors remain unopened.

In conclusion, the Anantha Padmanabhan Swamy Temple remains one of the most mysterious and enigmatic places of worship in the world. Its grand appearance, mysterious secret rooms, and untold wealth make it a must-visit destination for those seeking a glimpse into India's rich history and culture.
