How Vocal Comments Can Enhance Our Stories
We Can Enhance Each Other's Stories With Our Comments

Introduction
Yesterday I published a story addressing the fact that I might hit two thousand Vocal stories by the end of this year, and I got a lot of comments (for me) with excellent insights and observations. You can read it here.
The song I have included is Peter Gabriel's "Come Talk To Me" from the album "Us". I had forgotten that this song features Sinead O'Connor on accompanying vocals, who we sadly lost yesterday.
What I Took From This
The main thing that I got from this was the affirmation that I am on the right creative path and should keep doing what I am doing.
I do worry at times that my pieces are often so different from each that people will avoid reading my work because they do not know what to expect, but the number of reads I do get implies that people are fine with my modus operandi.
I believe we are all filled with self-doubt at times, wondering whether we are doing the right thing or taking our way into a cul-de-sac of no return.
You can go into the article to see what the comments are but these are a few that I will take on board and made me feel that I am doing the right thing. I have slightly edited some but you can go and check where they came from.
The comments are a way that we can talk to each other and build each other up.
At the end of the day, the big question for you should be: Do I enjoy writing so much? I never feel spammed by you, you always post interesting things for us to read.
Vocal is a work in progress, but always getting better, imho.
And Mike, I agree with most everyone here. Just write as you want to and post when you see fit.
Just write when you are inspired. I like reading a variety of pieces.
Post away. I will just have some late-night reading if you do.
I'll open my notifications, expand them and click back to them each time I read and comment on an article. When I have to pay attention to something else, like w*rk, I'll open it in another tab. It's just my routine, and each of us has his or her own.
I hear you! I get overwhelmed by many submissions in a row sometimes too. I’m sure I miss comment notifications though because of that sometimes.
I write when I can and read when I can.
I just choose and go.
Some people have a lot to say, or have the talent and the time to post a lot. I'll read what I can, and what I can't, I'll skip.
I say post what you want when you want. I think I’m an avid reader on Vocal but I miss a lot of people's work even though I’m subscribed to them. Plus, I think the notifications are bonkers. Sometimes I didn’t even see a notification
Conclusion
The comments themselves have almost made a complete Vocal Story/Article (does that make me a plagiarist?), but I have done this to illustrate how comments can enhance a Vocal story.
Obviously, Poetry and Fiction are different because the comments will mostly be congratulatory but there are a lot of Vocal stories that will benefit from creator interaction via the Vocal Comments.
I will leave you with Justin's piece that introduced Vocal Comments to us last year for a little more light reading and interaction.

I loveeeeeeeeee getting comments so much! One of the best things Vocal has done!
I love the comments I get. Sometimes, the feedback is great and helps me improve as a writer.
As someone who let Vocal lie when comments weren't available, I can say that for me, they have made all the difference. Not only have they provided a way for us to provide feedback, but it's allowed us to build friendships that make the platform even more valuable. In regard to your work, I enjoy the variety you provide and I appreciate that I can disagree in the comments and not be labeled as a troublemaker. I guess what I'm saying is that how we respond to comments is as important as receiving them. Great job an another insightful piece!
Feedback is great. I think the comment section was a great addition by Vocal. I try to read and respond to all but I'll admit, I do miss some.
When I have time, I read the comments. The comments definitely add a group discussion vibe!!! Wonderful and looking forward to reading more of your stories!!!❤️❤️💕
Great job, Mike. I enjoy reading the comments too.
I love all the comments you shared! Nothing makes me feel better than someone saying my world impact them. Great job Mike as always ☺️
It's always great to get feedback on your work with a comment. "I do worry at times that my pieces are often so different from each that people will avoid reading my work because they do not know what to expect, but the number of reads I do get implies that people are fine with my modus operandi." Writing is sharing a part of yourself with the world. It doesn't always have to be the same part.
Yes! Comments add a lot to the experience for me too, especially if someone has a different opinion on the story than I do or noticed something that I didn’t pick up on (like in poetry!). I’ve had a funny story/resource waiting in drafts for awhile now about comments and how to deal with them 🫣🤣 I’ll probably publish it soon if Vocal changed their mind about wanting it haha.
I love to read others comments and insights🫶🏾‼️
I don't read others comments on others stories as much as I'd like. But when I do, they almost always add something to the conversation for me.
I enjoy reading the comments on stories where I add a comment. It feels as if we are on a party line and participants in an event where we share ideas.
