Labubu dolls take over the world

The Labubu dolls are all the rage all over the planet because they have an original design, they are funny and it works as a toy among children and is a fashion accessory among young women, who adopted these little monsters because of the trend set by celebrities.

The Labubu doll was created in 2015 by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, and appears in his graphic novels titled The Monsters. He has pointed ears and sharp teeth, representing an aesthetic that is "ugly, but attractive and endearing". Its popularity increased enormously thanks to Pop Mart, a Chinese company that specializes in collectible toys. A unique feature of their products is that the containers cannot be opened until they are purchased. They are mystery boxes, designed for collectors who do not know which doll from the series they are taking home. For this reason, opening the box and discovering the contents becomes part of the experience, which is widely shared on social networks.

The highlight of the Labubu dolls occurred in 2024, when a member, Lisa, of the K-pop group Blackpink posted an image on social networks, in which she appeared with the stuffed animal. The photo led to long queues in stores and a huge increase in sales.

Evil dolls

Labubu dolls are also an icon of luxury

As the international fame of the Labubu dolls grew, the belief that they could be evil also became popular.

Labubus are figures that quickly became popular due to their unusual design - a combination of charming and slightly disturbing. Their characteristics, such as huge smiles and bodies with fur, generated great interest and also some fear on social networks. In that space, a theory appeared that relates them to Pazuzu, a demon from ancient Mesopotamia known for his dark image and his role in ancient mythology.

This relationship increased the mystery and conjecture, leading many to doubt whether these dolls have a more complicated origin than they seem. Thus, what was initially seen as a simple toy with a distinctive design, quickly became a phenomenon full of enigma.

Pazuzu is a demon from ancient Mesopotamian mythology, recognized by his lion face, bird legs, wings and snake tail. Although his appearance can be scary, in some cultures he was seen as a protector against other evil spirits and diseases, which shows the duality of his figure, making it even more intriguing.

The stories that relate Pazuzu to the Labubus dolls have generated so much interest, concern and even fear among many followers that, due to the confusion caused, several fans chose to get rid of the dolls, driven by the viral myth surrounding this demon and its possible effect.

Devilish connection

The viral theory emerged on X and TikTok, where users started making comparisons between the Labubu doll and the Pazuzu demon. Everything escalated when images were shared showing the aesthetic similarities, along with the eerie expression of the stuffed animal, which stoked the collective imagination.

Some people expressed concerns about the possible spiritual dangers related to these toys, alerts even appeared about possible demonic possessions. In an extreme situation, someone recorded a video in which he saw himself burning his Labubu to get rid of his influence and posted it on networks. These incidents only increased the myth and sowed more doubts among fans and the curious.

Several psychologists have studied why Labubu creates such an intense emotional connection with their owners. They indicate that their design, with large expressive eyes, activates in the human brain a reaction similar to that of seeing a baby or a pet. However, its somewhat disturbing appearance also provokes a sense of intrigue and fascination, forming an emotional bond that transcends the logical.

It is not the first time that something similar has been heard about a brand or product popular among young people. The same story happened in the 80s with The Smurfs. Despite that, every time toys and fashion are linked with darkness, users show fear and concern about the veracity of this information, since some parents do not want to buy those trendy dolls.

Final thoughts

Labubus gained popularity in the last months of 2024 thanks to their attractive and peculiar design. These figures in the form of monsters, with long fangs and large ears, conquered users and even celebrities. Lisa was one of the first idols to mention that they are her favorite collection, which pushed sales to incredible levels; now everyone wants to have one of these dolls. However, a recent video on TikTok claims that they are toys designed to communicate with the Devil himself.

Regardless of what they say, the reality is that Labubus dolls are the most popular around the world right now. So we don't judge you if you are curious about the rumor spreading on social networks like TikTok, where it is said that this toy may have evil energies related to something as sinister as the underworld.
