Dysnomia
I normally wouldn’t wake up in the middle of the night, especially since I could sleep through most of my alarms. However, I knew something was wrong when I felt the heat of the light toasting my eyelids. When I came to, the first thing I remembered feeling was my stomach turning. I felt like I was sleeping on the ceiling while my body was planted on solid ground. The second thing I remembered was seeing the green light flooding my room. I could tell the source came from outside and was moving. And yet it was as if the light itself was leaking into the room, contorting itself into a myriad of shapes, glowing in corners where not even sunlight goes. It beckoned me to follow it, to spring out of my bed. I knew then my time in this capsule on this moon had come to an end.

Kendra and Lil
Wearing the heart-shaped locket wasn’t required for Kendra’s clone to function. It was more of a memento or possibly a form of advertising, that the clone company included with the delivery of Lil, the name she had chosen for her new arrival. Kendra immediately fastened the delicate chain around her own neck. The locket itself was slightly corny – the clone company’s logo engraved on the outside, the left side of the open locket containing a photo of Kendra, the right side containing a photo of Lil.

The Most Strange and Disturbing Things in ‘Star Wars’
“I find your lack of faith disturbing.” Lord Vader’s famous line from A New Hope shows the Sith Lord’s disdain for Admiral Motti’s unwillingness to believe in the power of the Force. However, this is by far not the only thing that was disturbing in the galaxy far, far away. For movies that are more or less modern fairy tales marketed primarily towards kids and young adults, they actually do contain quite a few things that are either strange or disturbing or both.

Distance is a Fallacy
TRANSMISSION 53 We've finally done it. After months of sitting alone in this tiny remote outpost - has it just been months? It truly feels like it's been five years since I was sent to this isolated shed on the frontiers of oblivion - I finally have something substantive to report. I have received communication from a non-terrestrial source and, after many rounds of analysis, I can confirm with a <0.01% margin of error that the transmission was from an intelligent source. I have already broadcast the preplanned welcome message and am eagerly awaiting the response, which I will of course pass along to headquarters promptly as I receive it.

The Telepath
Telepathy is a tricky thing. Everyone seems to have a pinch of it. People finish each other’s sentences, pictures flutter into the mind and those next to us start talking about our thoughts without us ever uttering a word. Were those thoughts broadcasted or were they received like a mental text message?
