I was looking through some old work recently, and found a few short stories I wrote in high school. I didn't really edit them that much, so if there are any errors, that's why, but this story was definitely interesting to me. Looking back, this story really speaks a lot to where I was in my healing journey from the traumas I've experinced. I kept getting back up and essentially turning on myself, my only true friend at the time, because other people kept putting poisoning thoughts into my head. So, without further ado, here it is:

A Simple Delivery Chapter 1
So comfortable. So very comfortable. Wow, really really comfortable. Had something happened to her bed? Did it magically get better? Overnight? Did she find the right position? Was that all it took? Strange. Better not waste it, she thought, not moving an inch. Then, her back felt a little cold. Why was the bed cold? That’s really unusual. Why would her bed be cold? She twisted around to find her blanket. Still twisting. Still twisting. Still twisting. Or is it turning? She had stopped twisting but she was still turning. Opening her eyes was an admission of defeat. Nothing is wrong. It’s fine. It couldn’t be anything other than her imagination. No. She’s still spinning, for sure. Fine, the final step has arrived. It’s time to wake up.

The spies were collecting information for Mahir and the group as they sat around the chief's large circular table eating a majestic breakfast of fruit, meat and coconut water. Jax and Dasia held hands the whole time, stealing glances at each other. In his diary, Clive said that Elizabeth wouldn't stop smiling at the newlywed pair. It was the most romance all four had seen in a while.

Kylie Kylie curved her lip and sent a puff of air blowing the bangs out of her eyes as she scrolled. Her mind absently engaged in Facebook-the worlds digital hourglass. Entranced by the little glimpses of perfect pixel life. Captured moments frozen in place for others to gaze upon and obediently click the ‘thumbs up’ to validate the social promotion of the one seeking approval. The posts funneling from one end of the hourglass to the other earning proper praise and distinction. There is an absurd beauty to it.
