The 1950s Science Fiction Podcast. S1:E2
Start of Transcript: Introduction: Hello everyone, and welcome to The 1950s science fiction podcast. I hope that you have listened to and enjoyed episode one of the show. In episode one, I talked about 50s sci-fi radio dramas and how great they were. Today I will discuss the science fiction programs broadcasted on Television during the decade. The broadcast TV industry got started just after World War Two and started to grow. There were experiments in TV transmissions conducted during the 1930s; however, the war put a stop on any further development of the technology. Once the war was over, the commercial TV industry got started, then TV sets went on sale. By the middle of the 50s, most major cities had at least one TV station operating. The 1950s saw the extortionary growth of the new medium much the same way we saw the internet boom back at the turn of the 21 century. More and more TV sets went on sale during the 50s, by the end of the decade, TV sets were commonplace in America.

War of the Worlds: The Return
It was nearly one hundred and twenty years ago when Martians had launched an audacious attempt to take over and make earth their own home, spreading that red alien weed everywhere. That was until what seemed so simple to us humans was not so for our Martian invaders, they seemed to catch a common cold a virus of sorts from one of our very own earth germs, for once mother earth was fighting back.

Green Eyes and Mystic Vibes
I woke up when I heard the familiar bark of my alarm system. Someone was in the shop. I was actually enjoying my nap this time; no nightmares, no falling, no world in turmoil. Since everything fell apart I ditched my little apartment across town and taken to sleeping in the back of the shop. I felt safe and at peace here surrounded by all my crystals and of course my great dane Dharma.

THE DOG WHISTLE
THE DOG WHISTLE Frankie Twister threatened the tv with a chicken leg. “That’s the problem, you see, Janice.” Janice Twister sat next to her husband on their couch. She looked up from her pad. Her latest effort, dolphins holding Christmas trees.

Pursuit of Consequence
It was early 2007 when I met God. He was in a hole-in-the-wall redneck bar in Pike County, Mississippi called Dicky’s Tavern. I thought it was kind of a shitty place for a god to hang out and it made me wonder about his character, but then again, I was there. I knew he was God because… well, I just knew. He wasn’t wearing robes or glowing. There were no angels singing. I just sat down on the stool next to him and knew he was God.
