I get it, I'm a Gemini

Star signs always baffled me, how can someone have certain traits just by being born on a certain date? During my high school years I would read my horoscope in the back on my magazines and wonder if it held any meaning for me. One day I realized I was trying a little too hard to make the vision a reality, and never read my horoscope again. In fact until this challenge I had not given my sign much thought since those high school days over twenty years ago.

Several of my friends are star sign enthusiasts and I enjoy their insight on astrological signs, because it makes me happy they have a hobby, and not to find any personal or validation.

Considering my own sign, Gemini, I researched to see if I am in fact, a text book case. Surprisngly, I noticed quickly in my Gemini search is they are one of the least liked astronomical signs. This is due to the theory that they tend to be two faced. Reflecting on myself, I could see how someone would think that about me. In my mind, I accounted it to being adaptable. Knowing my audience, so to speak, and blending in where I need to be. Here is a list of other known traits and how I may, or may not measure up to being an accurate Gemini representation.

Adaptable

It is easy for me to adapt to different situations, places, and groups. As I stated above, this adaptability can often be seen as being two faced.

Outgoing/Social

Yes, I admit it. This. Is. Me. I am talkative, bold, and assertive. Friends come easily to me due to my talkative nature. Parties and events are usually a treat, and things I enjoy playing and attending.

Since I was a young child I have been known to be the life of the party, and the child always loosing, the quiet game.

Christmas morning when I was around twelve I was none to thrilled, to open my present, a shirt reading:

I’m talking and I can’t shut up…

Need I say more.

Intelligent

There won’t be an episode of JEOPARDY! featuring myself in the future, but I would like to think I am somewhat intelligent.

Indecisive

Nope, I am very decisive. I make a decisions quickly and usually effectively.

Impulsive

Slightly, but not enough to say it’s a main character trait.

Unreliable

Wrong. I am dependable. You ask me to pick up your kid’s from school, I will be there early. Even when I am not feeling like it I show up for events, and am accompanied by snacks when I arrive. Reliable, through and through.

Nosy

Well… maybe?

As I have aged, this is less of a problem, but I would say I am nosy or inquisitive by nature. Part of being overly social is being a bit nosy. I hear strangers conversations and can’t help but listen or try to insert myself in them. Not always a good trait.

Interesting enough, when I looked up Gemini Memes, about 90% of them were me to a T!

Well, that hit home. I am well known for cutting people, cold turkey out of my life. It’s such a known fact I have had friend confess they aren’t sure what the future of our friendship holds, because I cut ties so easily.

An example, I haven’t spoken to my parents in well over a decade. I’ve walked away friend friendships that were over a decade old. This quality is a blessing and a curse. It’s great to drop the toxic people from you life, but it’s also a good thing to show grace, and give people second chances.

I’m trying to get better at this…

If you ask my current friends they would probably admit I am a great blessing, but don’t cross me or yeah, it’s not pretty. If you ask the people I have cut out, they would probably paint a pretty nasty picture of me.

I get it I get it, really hitting home with the Gemini memes internet.

Many tears have been shed, while singing this song. Knowing when I fall, there is nothing I can do but get up and try again.

Resilient.

Again, guess I am more of a true Gemini than I realize.

The verdict is in, and I wouldn’t say I’m 100% true to my sign, but I will say that thanks to internet memes and my astrological enthusiast friends who when ask to be reminded of my birthday say,

“Oh of course, your a Gemini!”

It is hard to deny.

We aren’t always the best at seeing the purest versions of ourselves, and often friends can be the honest judge.
