Those words left me frozen in place. My mind raced with thoughts of denial; There's no way in Hell I heard that. If I have then I've finally lost it. Better get out now. The same voice spoke again to prevent me from leaving Follow me into the bathroom. Everything in me said run, yet I couldn't move.

They swung their legs over the side of the bed to walk away. Taking the last chance to hide in their shadow the second their feet reached the end of the bed. They tried to suppress the shudder that racked across their body. As they were about to flick the light switch on I moved into the other shadows to keep myself completely hidden.

A look around the room told me that they couldn't see me after all. I tried to quiet my thoughts as they kept looking for me. Then the same voice spoke into my mind again I can hear all of your recent thoughts.

Then you should know I'm not above killing you right here and now.

Yes I know.

Then tell me what's your name and why do you look like Ed from the Yellow area?

Ed is my identical twin brother, I'm Eric.

You're a telepath?

Yes.

How come you don't have a collar?

I'm being held in the solitary area. It's where they keep the most dangerous inmates. We don't wear collars unless being escorted out of our rooms.

I thought the Yellow area was for the most dangerous inmates.

Not entirely.

Meaning?

For those of us who are considered Omega level by the scientists we are kept here under closer watch.

Thinking to myself You'd think I'd be here instead of Yellow.

Eric caught that to reply You're lucky to be in Yellow. This area makes Alcatraz look like day care.

That would explain the lack of successful escapes, aside from the bombs in our neck.

Not to mention Nurse Ratchet and The Thing from the Pit they added.

Speaking of which what do you know of them?

You'll be seeing Nurse Ratchet soon. I don't know much about The Thing from the Pit.

Why is that?

Everyone gets sent to her within the first few days of being held here.

So I'll need to bring my A game when the guards take me to her.

No matter how stubborn or strong you are, everyone breaks when they get sent to Nurse Ratchet.

Do you know of anyone else who kept from getting caught for over 10 years?

Don't underestimate her. A memory of pain resurfaced to Eric's mind. He looked down at his shaking hands before balling them into fists.

She did a real number on you, didn't she?

Eric looked away before replying Her job is to figure out how strong your powers are and then torture you to know everything. And I do mean everything.

Good thing I know how to keep a secret.

No one has lasted over 24 hours with her.

Enough about her. Who else knows you're a telepath?

Both the guards and scientists.

Do they make you use your powers?

A solemn look fell on their face before responding In short, yes.

Details.

They make me spy on all the inmates. If any of them poses a threat or tries to escape they make me tell them who it is.

Make you? Like sending you to Nurse Ratchet?

Yes, they send me to her when a new inmate stays here for about a week.

So you're more like Hannah than Ed.

Don't compare me to her.

Why not? She a traitor to her own kind and you're more like a truffle pig than an inmate.

Until you've spent years being tortured by some psycho then don't judge me.

I've been torturing myself mercilessly since the night of September 13, 2013. I'll take my chances.

Talk to me when you've spent a whole day with Nurse Ratchet.

Do you know how many people have died because of Code Black?

Far too many and their blood will always be on my hands.

Taking a moment I asked Are you going to tell the scientists that I can astral project?

Nope.

How do I know I can trust you?

You can't.

Answer this last question honestly then I'll leave; Why should I let you live?

If anything happens to me they'll feed you to The Thing from the Pit without a doubt.

Good point.

Making my way to the vents I sent one last thought their way By the way stay out of my head for your own sake.
