The Prompt

Convey a deep conversation between two individuals without uttering a single word aloud.

Waves On The Beach

The Ocean waves crashed on the sandy Beach, hitting the rocks and wearing them down, depositing fragments on the sand. The storm had been raging for three days and turned The Ocean into a raging destructive monster. Boats were sunk, lives were lost, but The Beach, as always just had to take it.

The Beach knew that the storm would subside eventually and The Ocean would become tranquil, but The Beach knew that The Ocean could not be calmed.

The Ocean raged driven by the storm, and attacked all it could see, even venting on The Beach despite their mutual love and respect for each other, but this storm-driven rage could not be stopped or controlled until it finally wore out. The beach was hit by flotsam and jetsam from the craft that the storm had hit combined with the iron strength of the vengeful Ocean waves.

Day and night The Ocean raged and The Beach waited, and waited, and waited for the calm.

The storm did blow out and the waves of The Ocean returned to their tranquil selves, kissing The Beach as if to say sorry for the previous days of hurt and violence.

These were the times that The beach loved the most, The Ocean felt the same, although they both knew that these days could change when the storm came and drove The Ocean into a relentless fury, but they took the calm and tranquil days and would have been happy if the days were always like this.

The Ocean and The Beach were now in a beautiful lover's embrace. Above them the sky was blue and the sun shone.

Anyone who came to that beach at these times would have thought they had found heaven, beautiful and peaceful, a place where angels could play.

Night came and Celene rose to bathe the ocean and beach in silver moonlight. There were fireflies further inland it looked as though a god and painted a picture of perfection.

The Ocean and The Beach appreciated every second of their tranquility. They knew this could end at any second, but they concentrated on the beauty of the NOW, not on the thought that the storm might return, even though they knew that one day it would. They also knew that the storm would not last forever, but their love definitely would.

Celene left and Helios returned and the storm was far away. This was going to be another perfect day to share the love of each other for The Ocean and The Beach.

Not one word had passed between The Ocean and The Beach and never will that happen in forthcoming millennia, but one thing they both knew, as long as this planet circled its Sun, they would never, ever be parted, and for that, they were so thankful.

Despite their differences, they had always loved each other and always would do.
