Tree
The witch gave me the potion, I wanted to live a long life and she guaranteed that the potion would give me that.
The price? A vial of my blood and urine, that was easy.
I took the potion yesterday.
It is very difficult to write this now.
I did not ask for the details of how the potion would give me a longer life, but now I know.
My feet have taken root and my fingers are like twigs.
I have become a tree.

This is a conclusion to the story here but can be read as a stand-alone piece: The Black Kaleidoscope (Origins) The Sisterhood of Witches had destroyed the Black Kaleidoscope but kept a little of it to track down its creator whose name had been given to them as part of the freedom pact that they agreed with the imprisoned Demon. The dark wizard was called "Toymaker" and his penchant was to create haunted toys to steal the souls of those who came into contact, which were usually children.

Not There
He always touched me like he was checking I was still there. Not urgently. Not roughly. Just a hand on my wrist, my shoulder, the small of my back when we moved through rooms together. A habit I learned to expect before I learned to question. I told myself it was affection, that he needed closeness the way some people need reassurance. I never pulled away. I didn’t want him to think I could disappear again.
