Lady Connie decided to walk in the woods to visit the wishing pool. She had a special wish she wanted to make, and today would be a lovely day to hike out and make it. So, putting her scarf and shawl on, she headed out for a day trip.
On the way, she enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature. The squirrels were running up the trees. The rabbits were hopping through the underbrush. The deer were freezing as if they were statues. The flowers were blooming. A breeze was blowing. The day was perfect in every way.
When she arrived at the pool, she heard splashing and hollering. Rushing forward, she was disappointed to see three heads bobbing in the water.
“Oh, look what you have done! You’ve polluted the wishing pool with your filth.” Connie was distraught with the three strangers she saw.
“Um, pardon us, Missus. We meant no harm,”
“Meant no harm? Then why in the world would you swim in a wishing pool?” Constance asked
“No, don’t tell me, you’ve polluted the pool, now my true love will never notice me!” So, she took a coin, threw it into the pool, and added:
“Wishing Pool,
Wishing Pool
Don’t be cruel
Just play it cool
And punish these fools.”
No sooner did she say the words than the three men turned to stone inside the Wishing Pool.
Having wasted her only coin for the day, she headed home. She planned to return later with another coin to make the wish she had been wanting to make.
Moral: Don’t mess with a woman in love’s wishing pool.

I fully agree, but was there a sign to warn that it was a wishing pool. Oh dear.
What a charming and whimsical tale!
