The Raven King's Revenge
He stands on the fleshless skull of his fallen foe, sword in claw, victorious. The king in the dark castle had charged his archers and bowmen to bring down every dark bird, ravens, blackbirds, crows and even magpies.
The Raven Kings knew this was done out of nothing but malice. The ravens had lived in harmony with the castle for centuries, warning them when danger approached.
The King and his men started killing birds for sport, but they assumed the birds would either die or fly off somewhere else.
The Raven King spoke with his friends, the magpies and crows, and his own subjects, and came up with a plan to punish the evil castle dwellers and their king.
"The new king in the castle was nothing but a spoiled child and bully. He thought that he could do what he wanted without fear of retribution. We gave him and his men the retribution they deserved. He dismissed our messages asking him to stop murdering ourselves and friends, but he and his men just laughed and called us stupid. So we took action.
The king and men were attacked and stripped of their flesh. Those that survived ran, never to return.
The castle is now empty of human life. It is now the Castle of Ravens, but all our allies are welcome here.
So I stand on the skull of that selfish idiot manchild.
I am The Raven King, and the humans will never hurt us again
Nevermore
Nevermore
Nevermore"

Excellent, beautiful and stunning art ๐ฆ๐๐ฆ
Something almost Macbethian about this.Like the way art inspires your work! The repetition at the end has the desired effect of creep....well done, Mike! Bookmarked for sharing in one of the circles.
Nevermore indeed. Humans have a hard time imagining another mode of operation. I liked how the humans died or ran away, just as they predicted the birds would. A bird is not a human. โ๏ธ๐ฆโโฌ
There is an essence of Poe in this story. Great job.
