Emma and James had been friends since they were kids. They grew up together, and as they got older, their friendship only grew stronger. They spent countless hours exploring the woods behind their houses, riding bikes, and playing make-believe games. They were inseparable.

As they got older, Emma and James started to realize that their friendship was turning into something more. They were both too scared to say anything, afraid that it might ruin their friendship. But the tension between them was palpable, and they both knew that something had to give.

One summer evening, Emma and James went for a walk along the river that ran behind their houses. The sun was setting, and the sky was painted with shades of orange and pink. They walked in silence for a few minutes, enjoying the peacefulness of the moment.

Finally, James broke the silence. "Emma, there's something I need to tell you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Emma's heart skipped a beat. She knew what was coming, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to hear it.

"I know we've been friends for a long time, but I can't ignore how I feel about you. Emma, I'm in love with you," James said, his eyes locked on hers.

Emma felt her heart swell with emotion. She had always had feelings for James, but she never thought he felt the same way. "James, I'm in love with you too," she replied, her voice trembling.

With that, James took Emma's hand, and they walked together along the riverbank, watching the sun dip below the horizon. It was a moment they would never forget.

As the summer turned into fall, Emma and James spent every moment they could together. They went on long walks, watched movies, and talked for hours about everything and nothing at all. Their love for each other grew stronger with each passing day.

Winter came, and with it came the snow. Emma and James would often spend their afternoons ice-skating on the river, holding hands and laughing as they twirled around the ice.

One evening, as they were skating, James stopped and took Emma's hand. "Emma, I have something to show you," he said, a mischievous glint in his eye.

He led her to a small clearing in the woods, where there was a makeshift ice rink. James had spent the past few weeks clearing the snow and smoothing out the ice, just for Emma.

Emma felt her heart swell with love for James. "This is amazing, James. Thank you," she said, beaming with happiness.

They spent the rest of the evening skating, their laughter echoing through the woods. As they skated, James took Emma's hand and pulled her closer to him. They looked into each other's eyes, and in that moment, they knew that they were meant to be together forever.

As they glided across the ice, Emma whispered to James, "I never knew that falling in love on a bed of water could feel this magical."

James smiled and replied, "It's because our love is like the water - it's always flowing, always changing, but always there."

Emma and James knew that their love was special, and they were grateful for every moment they spent together. They knew that no matter what the future held, they would always have each other.
