Once there lived a magic man that went by the name of Jackie. He was a so-called “king” to the people of his city because he made their dreams and wished a reality little did, they know they were going to pay for it later in life. Excluding that, this story is not about how great he was, nor how he saved people. It is about his downfall and what caused this tragedy to happen.
Here I was lying on my couch watching all my guests celebrate and I was yet to enjoy myself. If it were not for all that I have done for the people present, none of them would acknowledge my existence. I took a deep breath and said to myself, “Get yourself together Jackie, just put on a smile and enjoy it until it’s over,” I got up from my seat, put a smile on my face, and walked over to the dessert table. I then saw a flash of color out the corner of my eye and there she stood, with long black hair, sun-kissed skin, blood red corseted dress, with black heels on. My heart felt as if I had stopped breathing. “How does this lady affect his downfall?” Your question will be answered shortly.
It was as if she was controlling my heart, she then turned, and we made eye contact. My breath hitched, as she stared into my soul with her ocean eyes, it was like a trance I could not escape from. As I came back to reality, I realized she was not there anymore and thought to myself, “Who was she...?” I was thinking about her, even when everybody was knocked out on the floor from getting high or drunk. I yelled, “Miguel!” and my butler came running, “Yes sir,” he replied, “I need you to find someone for me,” I went into the description of the widow, and he went on his way to find my mysterious woman. As the day passed, the sun began to set and before I knew it, it was night-time.
I did my nightly routine, as I prepared for bed. I was soon ready to lay down and be at rest in my short, but effective slumber. As I lay down my body began to relax and soak into the mattress I do not know if it was because of the drugs or how tired I was but I felt at rest. No, later than this event occurred I drifted off into a deep slumber. I woke up gasping for air, but when I awoke, I did not appear to be in my bedroom, but in a dark abyss with nothing but mirrors surrounding me.
As I tried to figure out where I was. Then out of my eye, I saw a blood-red dress. I began to chase after her telling her to wait, as she turned the corner and vanished. After what felt like hours of chasing her around, he had finally found her. He then proceeded to walk up to her, but as he was about to touch her hand she turned around, and instead of seeing his mysterious maiden, he was met by a body with no face. He awoke in a panic and found himself in his bedroom, gasping for air. As he began to adjust, he felt something wet underneath him, as he began to look down his eyes widened at the sight of…. BLOOD.
He shut his eyes tight, scared to see the scene in front of him again. He tried to calm himself. As he began to calm down, he opened his eyes, and the blood seemed to have disappeared or evaporated. He sat up in his bed trying to wrap his head around the scene that had just occurred. At that moment, he wondered if he should continue the search for her or stop it.
He removed the covers, put his feet into his slippers, and went to the bathroom. He entered the washroom, closing the door behind him. He began washing his face, trying to forget what had happened. Then flashbacks of the horrific scene reveal themselves again, while he is getting dressed, causing him to tumble over and fall onto the floor. Some would say he had been hexed, or the gods had so-called taken the powers that were presented to him, but he strongly doubted that would have happened. He stood up, getting dressed as fast as he could to talk to Valarie.
He knew that he couldn't give up the search for her. He had to know what had happened, and if she was okay. He felt a strange sensation in his body, almost like a tingling. He shook it off, thinking it was just the stress of the situation. He quickly got dressed and left his quarters, heading down to speak to Valarie. He wondered if his mysterious maiden was safe, but he knew one thing for sure, which was he had to find her before something dangerous happened.
