The Last person on Earth

Story of a young boy named Kevin who has been left alone on the earth

By Ammad AsimPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Kevin had always been fascinated by space. He dreamed of becoming an astronaut and exploring the far reaches of the universe. But he never imagined that he would end up being the last person on Earth.

It all started with a strange virus that swept across the globe. Governments scrambled to contain it, but it spread like wildfire. People began to fall ill, and soon the streets were empty. Kevin's parents tried to protect him, but they too succumbed to the disease.

Kevin was alone.

At first, he tried to hold on to hope. He turned on the news, hoping for some sign that the world was recovering. But the screens were silent. The electricity flickered and died. Kevin was left in darkness, with nothing but his own thoughts to keep him company.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Kevin scavenged for food and water, but his supplies were running low. He had no idea how long he could survive on his own. And as the days wore on, he began to feel like he was being watched.

At first, he thought it was just his imagination. But then he heard it ─ a soft scratching sound, like something was trying to claw its way into his shelter. Kevin's heart raced as he grabbed the nearest object he could find, ready to defend himself.

But when he opened the door, there was nothing there. The street was empty, and the only sound was the howling wind. Kevin was starting to feel like he was losing his mind.

One night, he was woken by a loud banging on the door. It sounded like someone was trying to break in. Kevin scrambled to his feet, heart racing as he tried to barricade the door. But it was too late. The door burst open, and something dark and shadowy rushed in.

Kevin could barely make out its form in the darkness, but it was clear that it was not human. It moved with an otherworldly grace, and its eyes glowed like embers in the night. Kevin stumbled backwards, fear gripping his heart.

But then something strange happened. The creature spoke. Its voice was deep and gravelly, but it was unmistakably human.

"Kevin," it said. "Do not be afraid."

Kevin blinked in disbelief. "Who are you?" he asked.

"I am a survivor, like you," the creature replied. "But I am different. The virus changed me."

Kevin didn't know what to make of this. Was this some kind of hallucination? But the creature seemed real enough.

"I have been watching you," the creature continued. "I have seen your struggle, and I know that you are alone. But you do not have to be."

The creature reached out a hand, and Kevin hesitated. But then he remembered that he had nothing left to lose. He took the creature's hand, and they walked out into the night.

Together, they roamed the empty streets, searching for signs of life. They found none. But they did find something else ─ hope.

As they wandered, Kevin and the creature began to talk. They shared stories of their pasts and their hopes for the future. And Kevin realized that even though he was the last person on Earth, he was not alone.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Kevin and the creature survived together, and they formed a bond that transcended their differences. And as they explored the empty world, they began to find signs of life.

First, it was a blade of grass poking up through the concrete. Then, it was a bird singing in the trees. And finally, they found a group of survivors who had managed to shelter themselves from the virus.

Kevin was overwhelmed with joy as he reunited with other humans for the first time in
