The Fox And The Frost Tree
A Seasonal Fable Inspired By An Angie Livingstone (The Glittering Fox) Painting

Introduction
This is my fifteenth piece inspired by Angie Linvingstone's amazing artwork. You can find her on Facebook and Etsy on the links below, and her comments on my work are very positive. At first. I thought that this was going to be a poem, but I have decided on a seasonal fable.
The Fox And The Frost Tree
The Fox was free and always had been so.
The Fox loved to run in the fields and forests and was a splash of colour on the winter landscape. Most of the farmers loved the Fox because he kept their fields free of other predators, and when he came to their houses the children would pet him and give him treats.
They also felt that there was a magic about him, but they were not sure why.
One winter day three children followed him into the forest, tramping through the snow with their scarves and hats to keep warm. As they walked through the forest they could see a light, and wondered what it was, as no one lived in the forest.
They came to a clearing a saw a beautiful tree made of light and frost, hung with stars and ice and the Fox sat below it, becoming infused with light and magic.
After a while, the Fox rose and ran back to the meadows, the children followed.
As the Fox ran they saw him spreading a magic haze and after he passed the trees and bushes looked more alive and vibrant. The Fox was magic and was preparing the plants and trees for their spring rebirth, with the magic bestowed on it by the Frost Tree.
They now knew the magic that the Fox brought forth.
When they got home they told their parents, who said that they knew about the Frost Tree, and the Fox had shown them when they were children too.
The Fox and The Frost Tree had always been there and always would be to bring magic to their homes and farms.
