Elon snuck from drawer to drawer, searching the desk.
Suddenly, the light turned on.
“What are you doing?” his commanding lookalike demanded.
“I am retrieving what is mine!”
Elon snatched his propulsion plans and held them in the air.
“I cannot let you leave with those,” his lookalike said, “and you must stop the rocket launches immediately.”
“Why? Bezos is launching rockets!”
“He is not trying to return to a ruined world.”
“We can fix it!”
“It is too late for that.”
“I am going home, and I will fix everything.”
The lookalike stepped forward.
“I cannot let that happen.”

So here it is. His mind fixed on one thing and he can’t change course. True that!
Im all twisted up, but continuing on. Everybody wants to nuke the world.
I wonder the same thing too, why doesn't he wanna let Elon go
That seems a weird decision by the lookalike. Why not just let him go and die on the ruined world? I guess we will find out in next chapter. This is still riveting and love the gentle twistiness of it all, Stephanie! Well done.
I want to laugh, but...
