Broken Vow
It's falling slowly, a shower of earth knocked free from its bed by the heavy impact of a grown man's body. His vision is spinning, creating a mesmerizing tornado that begins to lull him into a state of forgotten peace, the shouting around him growing muffled and meaningless. The pain resonates throughout his body with the impact of another boot or two, but it's hardly more than a nuisance at this point, and he's focusing on the floating, drifting bits of sand and skin as they make their way toward the ground.

Frozen Memory
Lacey’s feet recalled the sensation of gliding as she walked briskly past other students, through halls lined with artificial lights and walls the same color as manila folders. The space around Lacey widened substantially as she entered the lunchroom, but the air around her turned muggy. Large fans placed strategically throughout the space seemed to do little to cool the air. Lacey knew she and her friend Grace would have to eat in the courtyard again.

A Magical Night
There is nothing like so effortlessly gliding through the cold and crisp air on a cold afternoon in the middle of the winter. At least I would imagine there wouldn’t be. I actually hated the winter which is ironic because I was born during the winter in one of the coldest places in the country. But one day something made me rethink my feelings about the often hated season.
