Her Fury
By: Ellie Kehl & McKenna Montes Fury passed over the temple once more, the fae quivering beneath his shadow. Idiots, Fury banked to the left, I am far more powerful than any god of yours. He soared over the water, watching for any movement before turning back to the land. Fury flew over the Geha forest, scanning its canopy trees and vibrant wildflowers.

Silver Line of Power
A fiery rain poured over my head at sunrise as the field artillery fired from the other side, sending their led balls hurdling towards us. All I wanted was to get out alive. This dreadful war was the worst thing I had gone through. It was worse than when three of my cousins died the same day of cholera. If only the South would just surrender. They were on the path to defeat, why delay the inevitable and cause more death. They called what we were doing ‘Northern aggression,’ but I had called what they were doing land theft. Jefferson Davis was the one who wanted to break off from the union, but maybe Lincoln could make a few concessions, give the South some of their own land in exchange for every slave and draftee on their side being freed. I had no preference as to which side won, I just hated fighting. I was no cowardly deserter though. I had fought gallantly with my honor and integrity intact.

In Between Worlds
Sedjna woke before first light. Finding himself lying in a soft bed of needles, under the protective boughs of a conifer tree. He was cold and damp as everything was covered in morning dew. Rising to his feet to stretch the stiffness out of his joints, a shiver ran through his body that persuaded him to seek warmth. Unsure where he was, other than in the forest. It was dark when he entered. The blackness of the night sky was giving way towards dawn, some stars were still visible, yet obscured through the treetops. Turning in all directions he checked the horizon hoping to find where the sun might rise. As he looked through the shadowy dark figures of the forest canopy a sudden burst lit up that section of the twilight. He had never seen anything like it in his life. A faint ring remained at the site of the eruption, a glowing ball across the veil of the heavens.

The Infant and The Dragon
The world we know today is covered in man-made monstrosities made of metal and glass. This is not how the world used to be, and this is not how the world appears on one warm Autumn night, deep in the forest surrounding Mount Somers. This night took place back when homes were still built chiefly of wood and there was no such thing as electricity or indoor plumbing. Most people lived in small villages with their homes built as close to each other as possible for protection as the times were not safe for the average person. Not everyone was like the rest, and there is one, in particular, that was far from average.

A Dragon's Smile
For a hundred centuries, stories flew through the lands of terrifying beasts that conquered the skies. Myths of Hell raining from above in pillars of heat, leaving nothing but destruction and fear in its remains. Those who were unfortunate to have looked death in the eye never lived to tell the story, and their heirs spread the tales in bouts of desperation—to warn others of the monstrosities that they had witnessed. Until twenty and six years ago, the village of Draketon was formed. The inhabitants did not fear the savage brutes that owned the air, but they honored them. Their knees bent, heads bowed at the anecdotes that spread the forests. Their only gods were the Dragons.

Son of The Dragon
Legends tell of mighty and noble beasts, the dragons. Now they are scarce but once they ruled the land, they ruled the people as wise sages, or powerful tyrants. Some say man grew tired of their rule, and slayed every dragon they could, while others say man coveted the hoards of the dragons buried in their mountain keeps. But that isn’t the story I wish to tell you, and I know it's not the story you want to hear. You wish to hear of Draken, the man raised by a dragon. A man who transcended flesh and became a dragon.

The Silver Blood and the Last Dragon
It was a warm and starry night in the forest. The moon and stars were shining over the space between the pine trees like a light bulb, bringing all of the vegetation into the spotlight, for all to see. Only a light breeze was swimming along the trees and vegetation, as everything else stood still.

Waiting Between Worlds
Taraji stared at the magnificent carving covered in vibrant paints of a dragon and a little Waif. The only illumination under cover of darkness inside the hollow musty space. The figures would slowly come to life, telling a story. The golden beast gawked at the child and then swallowed her gently. She slid down his rough tongue, plucking his serrated teeth like a harp. His entrails danced about as the little one giggled. Fire and blood rocked her back and forth; her ginger hair singed by the dragon's breath.
