Breathing in through her nostrils and out through her mouth, she deeply inhaled the cool night air and used the sleeve of her black blouse to wipe away any lingering tears still dampening her cheeks.

Recovery
Being cradled in Ed's arms distracted me enough to make the pain bearable. Feeling the light overhead begin to sting my eyes I buried my face against his chest. While doing so, I took the chance to bite down on my lower lip to keep from screaming. Feeling Ed's heartbeat pound in my ear comforted me. With my eyes closed all I could see is Nurse Ratchet grinning down at me with a dull rusted scalpel in hand.
