Hell's Ten
Kace went down the road towards home. There were two things weighing heavily on his mind. The first was Gall’s warning, the second the shipment of explosives he now had on his hands. When he’d bought them he’d thought to sell them again right away, for a good profit, but the coppers patrolling around the docks had quickly changed his mind. What had caused the sudden tightening of security? Would there be more raids? He passed a hand through his hair, blowing out a heavy breath. His body ached and he wanted nothing more than to get home, maybe have a hot bath, sleep for an hour or two before business called again.

The Pond That Turns to Ice
CURRENT DAY As I lay on the bitter, numbing ground, I think of all of the choices that lead to this exact moment. I stare up at the sombre night sky, empty of the stars that graced its presence only yesterday evening. The wind is fierce, it roars and bellows at me for being so mindless, then it passes through the entirety of my body, leaving me breathless and unable to think clearly. I watch the illusion of smoke leave my lips with every breath that I take. It reminds me of the times as a child when my sister and I would pretend that we were smokers, it briefly warms my body to remember her face. I wonder if the trees can sense my desperation as they sway furiously from side to side. I try to find something to focus on to stop my mind from fixating on the cause of the throbbing sensation I feel in my feet, I know what is happening but if I pretend that it isn’t, maybe it won’t.

The same mourners who had been here starting the new year with that burial, found themselves having returned to her grave, standing around the freshly dug hole where her husband was being buried beside her.

Day of the Dragon: A Painter’s Masterpiece
A piece of a five-part non-chronological series centred around the day of the dragon. __________________ Wall Agassi encircles the city of Gallina. Nine years the stonemasons spent toiling in its construction and here it stands, towering 25ft tall and wide enough to sport three horses walking abreast. It is an architectural marvel, perfectly designed to allow the flow of the river through the city without compromising safety. The impenetrable ring carries the name of Walter Agassi, a man revered for his contribution to the city while holding a Seat of Nobles.

The "Long Thaw" & The History of Flag Football
There is this little-known story that I have heard about firestone park. It goes way back, and the origin story is just word of mouth. Although there is an incredible message and several older folks who believe the story to be true, there is no documentation of the story. I always love to tell it because after covering firestone park tournaments for nearly 25 years, I realized that stats, awards, and coverage are a great way to expose the greatness of our youth. I also realized that there are just certain athletes and certain individuals whose name only appears on the rosters, no jaw-dropping stats, no individual awards, sometimes they are not even on championship teams. But these same athletes and individuals, let's call them nameless ones, without the stats without awards these folks, never have their greatness exposed. And yet these players and these individuals make all the sacrifices, put in all the work, and achieve greatness in silence. It is these types of people and stories that I love to talk about the most.
