chapter 24
Sonia parked on a well-worn patch of mud that served as O’Dowd’s driveway—well, used to be his driveway, she thought—feeling slightly guilty having thought it. There was a quick dip and a hole, followed by two weary splashes of mud before the Bentley’s tires rode over a grassy hummock almost black with oil. The grass was uncut and spotty at best. Turning into the driveway, she hoped she wouldn’t get stuck before she had a chance to straighten the steering wheel. Maybe if I had a wider tire, but that’s too much money, she reminded herself. Money was always an issue with her. The War Widow they called her. She knew what her father would say; he’d say it’s nothing more than an extravagance.

Spontaneous Ceremony
Serena rolled her shoulders as she made her rounds around the gym in the early morning hours. It had been a calm morning so far. Cocking her head to the side in curiosity, she pondered the strange sight before her. Instead of running around in the typical boundless energy, three of the kiddos were sprawled out on the floor in a circle. Serena slowly inched closer, hoping to decipher the meaning behind the unusual scene. It was a strange mystery to unravel; calmly having a powwow on the ground was abnormal gym behavior. As she quietly crept closer, the trio were unaware, completely immersed in their current endeavor.

Write In The Middle Of It
Still sobbing, Mekayla flung open the door the door to her loft letting it bang up her amber painted wall. Unaware she left the door open, she quickly shuffled to her computer desk, took out the drawer, and flipped it over on top of the desk. There taped to the underside of the drawer was her emergency stash of green. She furiously wiped at the tears dropping from her face as she delicately removed the small baggie from the drawer. She then went into her bathroom and found a package of rolling papers in the basket of towels. She walked back into the living room, got a book off of her bookshelf and took everything to the pillow area. As if on cue, Mekayla instantly stopped crying, because she knew being upset would fuck up her rolling pattern. She managed to roll three perfect joints that she left on the top of the book as she pondered her situation.
