The Sea Girl and The Sandman: Now We Have Cats
Where We Are This follows on from “The Sea Girl, The Sandman and The Christmas Kittens” and does sort of break up the sequence of the series but that is the nature of life, multiple things can follow on from single events, but these stories also stand alone. This is not so much a story as a situational description, essentially about the effect that cats can have on a household.

Cosmic Prime
“Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Is that true? Can nobody…hear me?” Jonathan floated weightlessly in space, surrounded by parts and pieces of the wreckage that was ‘The Expedition’, his ship. Far off in the distance, there was an ocean of stars. His breath was the only audible sound; within his space suit, it sounded like gas routinely escaping from a valve. His suit itself was made of thick, layered, white material, with a blue ‘UE’ (United Earth) logo in the centre of the chest. He’d forgotten how long he’d been floating aimlessly amongst the wreckage, the only survivor of his crew. He’d survived the attack by a miracle, somehow avoiding the hull explosion, only to be met with a crueller fate - a slow, cold, painful death, waiting for his oxygen to run out.

Joshua Campbell: The Man, The Myth, The Legend
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. The open air of a town-car was a different story. The solid black paint did little to muffle the sounds of a scream. Much less to muffle the voices on it’s radio, tuned straight to the back passenger, Joshua Campbell.

Shattering of Peace
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say, but it seemed like all I could hear were the piercing shrieks of terror and agony rising out of the chaos below the palace. The acrid stench of burning flesh and combusted armaments filled the air, and the ground seemed to shake with each mighty impact. With their homes ablaze, people were running, scrambling to escape the death that surrounded them. Mothers and children were desperately making their way towards the palace as their sons, husbands, and fathers were heading towards the barracks that were stationed along the outer gates of the city. In the distance, trails of dust rose as those who were working in the fields sped towards sanctuary. The imperial fleet emerged from the darkness of the cosmic clouds, inching closer with each passing second. The time had finally come. We were under attack.

Eden Cove Vol. 4
Be careful who you make memories with. Those things can last a lifetime. Jessamyn sat on the dock, reading her book, enjoying the breeze coming off the water. August was almost over, summer in Virginia was slipping away but the heat would likely stick around for a bit longer. Fall was her favorite time of year anyways so while she always felt a little sad at summer ending, she wasn't even sure why anymore. Maybe feelings leftover from childhood, when you dreaded going back to school. She had never been a fan of school and while some of her friends had looked forward to college, she looked at a few and decided she would rather work. She had an overall feeling that she had been drifting for the past year but now she had been anchored here. On the dock, at this park, in this job, with her friends, she had some freedom now. Next week was the first week of September, she and Molly had found an apartment and were moving in together. It was nothing special but they could afford it, two bedrooms, one bathroom to share and it was clean. Her parents seemed indifferent to her moving out. Typical. Justin had offered to help them move but Taylor had to work all weekend and had stuff going on with his grandma. She had found out that he lived with his grandma full time and had since he was a baby. His parents tried to get down with parenting but they preferred traveling. They visited him once a year. While Jessa had found herself feeling a sense of relief that things were finished with Adam, she was in no rush to get into anything with Taylor. For the last two months, she had spent so much time thinking about him and melting when he touched her. But she still held back something, she didn't want a relationship. And Taylor was going to be starting back at school soon. High school at that! She didn't mind the age difference but she also didn't want a high school boyfriend. Jessa felt like they had a lot in common and she liked spending time with him but something was missing for her. She couldn't quite put the feeling into words. She heard from Justin that Adam put in his two-week notice at Karol's and was going back to work full time for his dad. Apparently he had gotten into a bit of trouble over that scene in the shed. They had threatened to fire him and gave him a "last chance" documentation. The rumor mill said that he was already dating a girl his mom set him up with the weekend after they broke up. Jessa tried not to think about that too much, she didn't want it to hurt.

Abilities
The peaceful house on the back of the lake had changed over the last twenty years. The living room furniture was replaced. Everything, except William’s favorite chair, was switched out. The TV was bigger and flatter. The kitchen table was bigger. The checkered tile in the kitchen was replaced with a dark burgundy wood flooring with a urethane finish. The house looked identical on the outside, but on the inside, it was like William had an entirely different home.

I stopped talking about marriage. Let's see the luck. Lan Zhu doesn't pay much attention to the news. He took out a cigarette and said, don't come. I mean? If you're like me who's afraid to look. Nero said angrily that they would be like the eyes of a donkey.

Eternal Grind
She had never liked D.C. at this time of year. It was wet, overcast and always dirty. It was just like living in London or Seattle. Cities weren't her favorite places to be. She enjoyed the small rural towns but people noticed everything you did. Not very productive for someone who hasn't aged in the last few centuries. Madison pulled her scarf closer to her face, looking for the restaurant that Tom had told her he was at.
