Ame's Choice
Ame held her father’s hand tightly as she dropped from a large stone, landing with both feet in the mud below. They had come so far, and she didn’t know where they were going or why they had to leave home, but she had no choice but to hold her father’s hand and follow him. It was dark and cold. She wore simple, black clothes made of cotton, with no embroidery or patterns whatsoever. Her father next to her wore the same, with a shawl and a round hat made of straw. They would never have worn these sorts of things before tonight. Before tonight, they would have been riding horses, surrounded by guards and servants, but here they were, trudging through the forest outside the castle, alone.

Cosmic Prime
“Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Is that true? Can nobody…hear me?” Jonathan floated weightlessly in space, surrounded by parts and pieces of the wreckage that was ‘The Expedition’, his ship. Far off in the distance, there was an ocean of stars. His breath was the only audible sound; within his space suit, it sounded like gas routinely escaping from a valve. His suit itself was made of thick, layered, white material, with a blue ‘UE’ (United Earth) logo in the centre of the chest. He’d forgotten how long he’d been floating aimlessly amongst the wreckage, the only survivor of his crew. He’d survived the attack by a miracle, somehow avoiding the hull explosion, only to be met with a crueller fate - a slow, cold, painful death, waiting for his oxygen to run out.

It began with the seven celestial beings. Ancient, immortal, wise and powerful. Before the universe, their presence predates all things. They were there in the beginning and will persist after the end. Above us and beyond us, they are in the celestial realm without physical form, yet each of them wields the power of gods.

Runaway Train
Jack opened his eyes wearily. His head was fuzzy; his vision blurred. He sat still for a moment, allowing his consciousness to return. He was sitting in a train; an old-fashioned inter-city train to be precise. The carriage was empty except for an elderly gentleman sitting opposite him. The fellow was plump, with short white hair and a trimmed beard. He wore a newsboy-style hat and was reading a newspaper. It was dated February 2nd, 1981 and there was an article about a fatal car crash on the front page.
