Unexpected Kindness in the Night
The sun had set on the sleepy town, and the only light came from the streetlamps. As she walked, she heard the sound of footsteps behind her. She quickened her pace, but the footsteps quickened too. Suddenly, a hand grabbed her shoulder, and she spun around. "What are you doing?" she asked, trembling. "Sorry, miss," said the young man. "I just wanted to return the wallet you dropped." He handed it to her, and she let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you," she said. "I thought you were someone else."

Special Skills
Manhattan seemed a small town shrouded in mystery after a local celebrity’s disappearance. The dearth of clues or witnesses perturbed the police enough to engage me. I have certain…skills they usually refuse to entertain. I discovered the missing man had been involved in unsavory dealings, despite his sterling image. Suspicion grew as I uncovered evidence pointing toward foul play. With the help of intuition, I pieced together the puzzle and uncovered the truth behind the actor’s disappearance. However, as I closed in on the culprit, I realized that my own life was in danger and would need to save myself.

Wake Up, Love
"Wake up, love," A voice said to me. "Who are you, and why do I really need to use the bathroom," I said. "I'm your wife. You've been in a coma for three months. You were hit by a truck," She said. "I'm up now," I said. "We missed you," she said. "Who's we?" I asked. "Me and the kids," she said. "Oh hey, guys," I said. "You smell, daddy," My youngest said. "I'll go shower," I said. I got up, showered, and spent the rest of the day catching up with my wonderful family. It's really good being awake.

IN TOO DEEP
Jason looks up at the ceiling and ponders. Something wasn’t right. The kitchen didn’t feel the same. He admitted that it was the same ceiling he’d normally see. He could see the familiar cabinetry, out the corner of his eye. When Jason looked down, this definitely wasn’t normal. He stood on moist, firm, dark brown mud. He squatted his knees to physically touch it for himself. As the ground gave in to his fingertips, that was confirmation. Either the squatting was too much pressure or the ground simply started to succumb to his weight as he felt himself go lower.
