The Cadillac Murders
The Cadillac Murders Evil has a distinct smell. Standing here in Tarrat’s Barn where it all happened, Wade could still smell the sickening odor that permeated the barn and the clothes of all who were there when the forensics technicians exhumed the bodies. It has been eleven, no, twelve years now, and the images, complete with smell, still interrupted his sleep on a regular basis.

Empty
She had been lying on her side, facing the empty half of her bed. He had stared at her for some time, her parched and withered flesh stretched over shapely bones, fading hair still red and draped over her sunken face like coils of delicate copper thread. Her lips were drawn back over her white teeth. She'd been young.

Dynasty: A Batman Tale
NOW The Gotham Skyline was a magnificent view against both the early morning dawn and fading light of dusk. Commissioner Jim Gordon liked those times best. In fact, while other police commissioners preferred working in daylight, Gordon, the night owl, preferred the dark. That’s when he did his best work. The horizon was painted with sky-scrappers dressed in mirror windowed gowns reflecting the purple and pink hues melting from the darkness of space. In the distance, a fleet of Gotham Police helicopters were circling different areas of the city, shining spotlights up and down the alleyways that made up the labyrinth of Gotham.

Man Up
I had every intention of telling my girlfriend. For months I had convinced myself I would tell her, I just needed to wait for the perfect moment. It was the day after Canada Day, normally people would be shooting off left over fireworks, but the entire week had been plagued by unnatural thunderstorms. Avoiding my reflection in the mirror, I whispered, “I’ll tell her tonight. Like right now.”

Still
The rain was pouring down above us. The pitter patter of the drops hitting the bunker were calming yet annoying. “What are you thinking about?” Joe asked. I looked up with tears in my eyes. The world was falling apart. “How did we even end up here?” I cried. He tried to comfort me, but it was pointless. Here we were, hiding in an underground bunker while the world above us was in shambles.

The Dream
A few days later, Tori decided to see if she could remember what tunnels she followed and where the crack was that she saw in the wall from her dream. She was packing everything she could carry when her mother walked in. “Where are you going?” she asked. Tori sat with her mother and told her about her dream. Her mother told her she did not think it was a good idea to be going trapesing around the tunnels herself. Tori said she does it all the time and said she would be fine. Her mother reluctantly let her go but told her to be back before lights out.
