Mystery
Surprise!
Day One I often gaze out the window and imagine the sun’s warmth on my skin. I haven’t experienced sunshine in days… or has it been weeks? Months? I can’t go out there. Out into the harsh world? No. No, it isn’t for me. Or I am not for it. Either way, I stay safely behind these windowpanes.

ELEMENTS OF AN ENIGMA
It was a cold, crisp November morning in the Adirondacks. The steel-grey sky reflected on the glassy surface of the lake, where I sat pensively in my canoe. In this tranquil moment I found myself contemplating the swirls of steam rising from the mug of coffee that warmed my hands. The surrounding silence was gradually disturbed by the familiar sound of a flock of Canada geese, winging their way south on their annual migration to the winter grounds. The v-formation of the flock altered course and I could see them drawing closer, guessing there were more than a hundred geese passing overhead. I once thought the leader of the flock was at the head of the formation, but since learned the bird honking commands was always at the end of the longest tail.

Kalimba
Splashes of water kicked up when the drone’s blades began to chop from the morning dew. The controller sat back in Wilmington, Delaware and guided the tiny craft with a box in tow. With its extensive battery life, it traveled from its urban home in New Castle County to the fields of Sussex County in Lewes, Delaware.

Invading
Sunday- 10:15 AM “What IS that?” asked Perry who stood at the window, gazing at an object in the sky. Linda was in the midst of reading an article about last night’s meteor shower when she looked up to see her mesmerized husband. He hid himself behind the curtains, eying something with great interest.

Recipient Unknown
Machine gun fire and explosions filled my ears. All around me my comrades were dying to the enemy forces faster than we could push them back. I pulled out a grenade from my belt and hurled it at the opposing trench. Screams and moans of protest answered the shockwave, but my triumph was brief. A stray bullet found me and sent me crashing to the ground.

Dance Of The Nights
The Apartment The apartment was very cheap to rent and in a great area. THEY were surprised to get it, although the estate agent told them that for some reason people only stayed there for a couple of months at the most, and were surprised it wasn’t a holiday let. The owners wanted longer-term tenants however they were prepared to let it at a well below market price.

Why is this here?
It was a cold crisp winter morning, the icy breeze turning my nose red when I opened my front door. I had just received a notification that UPS Remote had delivered a package via drone. The only thing is, I don’t remember ordering anything. But sure enough, right there on my doorstep is a small brown box, about the size of a shoebox. Cautiously I pick up the box and bring it inside. In hindsight picking up a mysterious package that I don’t remember ordering is probably not the best idea, but hey what’s the worst that could happen?
