Scenic Sanctuary Inn. Runner-Up in Weekend Getaway Challenge.
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. It was everything the advertisement claimed, “Scenic Sanctuary Inn. A Bright and Homey A-Frame, with Spectacular Mountain Views.” The tall, triangular structure featured cathedral windows that took up the entire front, a bright green door, and a second-floor balcony for enjoying the view.

Two's company
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. The weather forecast said there was more snow to come, but we had packed plenty of food and there was fuel enough for a whole winter of snow. We were looking forward to a long weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A long weekend of eating, drinking and relaxing.

Snow'den
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. The curve jutted out on the right where a pine tree sat beside the road. It led to the left where it swooped up again. We could see the cabin in the distance when I suddenly woke up inside the living room. The fireplace was roaring before me. I lifted my head as I laid clung to the floor, barely able to raise my hand.

The Missing Poster
The missing poster flapped with the gentle breeze from a late September day. The edges of the poster were worn and stained from the summer sun and heavy rains, but his eyes remained unchanged. His green iris seemed to jump off the paper like laser beams at a light show. His sandy brown hair hung long past his shoulders, a person passing by unable to tell its true length in the 2D world my brother was trapped in.

The Mystery Box
Sara lived alone in a one-bedroom apartment with her two cats, Princess-a Blue Russian, and Scarface-a Tuxedo. Since it was Saturday, she took a lazy day for herself. She laid on the couch and was watching Lifetime curled up in a tan blanket while both of her cats rested on her. She dozed off for a few minutes.

Other Worldly Box
It was a frigid and icy day, one that could have been in the record books. I couldn’t leave the warmth of my house to do the stuff I needed to do on my checklist. I contemplated that at least I need to do my Christmas shopping, since it was getting dangerously close to the holiday. I sat with my glass of wine and my grey fuzzy blanket and hunkered down for a few hours of online shopping. As I came close to the end of my list, there was a knock at my door. I found this to be quite unusual because I hadn’t heard a car or truck pull into my driveway. Also, the weather wouldn’t have allowed for a vehicle to travel in it. As I checked my ring doorbell, I noticed that no one was at the door. What I did see was a package that was wrapped in silk. How, if no one was at my door, could I have this package?

Two Secrets Too Many.
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. The wheels were slipping in the sludge, but we were safe: Marcel had the car well in hand. I leaned into the frost-patterned backseat window as we passed lines of heavy branches glinting with pure white. Marcel and Zuri's chatter fell into the background.
