The Trail of the Snail. Content Warning.
I dedicate this story to Charlie. *** Just at the moment that you're born, so is a snail. And so begins a relentless pursuit, a race between molluscs and mammal. Snails may look like they are aimless meanderers but this is not the case. In truth, they are the harbingers of death, and their trails, whilst seemingly random, all lead to one person: the person to whom they have been linked from the day of their arrival on Earth.

The Good Ol' Tooth Fairy Days
I remember my childhood friends. Playing hide-and-seek outside till dark. Not a care in the world. The day's disagreements, debates, and fights--forgotten with the next sunrise. Those were the good ol' days. As taken for granted as teeth.

Father, Aglow
When Susannah opens the door, I remember why I lost you. It was ages ago, decades. Hell, centuries for all it matters. The years as they stare at me are fresh and new in the light from the deck. I abandon the dream to visit her bedroom in the physical world and stand guard over her sleeping form. He comes into her room and walks through me as if I'm a ghost. I can't stop him-

The Rubbish Collector. Content Warning.
The task ahead of him was mountainous. Literally. He was not alone in it, there were others, but something about the environment made him feel the loneliness of his existence, like he was a speck on the earth. He always felt like this here.

Can I Get You Another?
There's no sign outside. You might wonder how anyone ever finds it. Rest assured: word gets around. Duck behind the second hand shop, scuttle down the crooked alley, turn left. See that man there wearing overalls, hat pulled over his eyes? Or maybe today, he looks like he's on a cigarette break. Say the right words, and if he likes the look of you, he might unlock the chain on the dilapidated door behind him.

ECHOES OF THE WHISPERING WOODS
In the heart of the kingdom of Eloria, nestled between the towering peaks of the Misty Mountains and the shimmering waters of the Silver Lake, lay the Whispering Woods. This ancient forest was not like any other in the realm; its trees were more than mere flora, for they were sentient beings, guardians of an ancient wisdom that flowed through their roots like veins of precious gemstones.
