Echoes of a Broken Promise
The rain fell relentlessly, matching the heaviness in her heart. Sarah stood alone by the edge of a desolate cliff, overlooking the tempestuous sea. The waves crashed against the rocks below, echoing her inner turmoil. A tattered letter, crumpled and worn, clenched tightly in her trembling hand.

The Personification of Merlot
Zelda had revisited The Prose & Wine many times – eleven times to be exact – over the last four months. The motivation each time she visited was solely the opportunity to hear him read just one more time. She could not remember ever hearing lovelier recitations of any piece of classical work. She was confident that his voice, laced with a lilting, beautiful English accent, was derived from ancient times and a gift purely from the Gods. She did not know his real name, because everyone who came to hear the recitations knew him only as The Eloquent Englishman.

Embrace
After many long years apart, the two came together in a fervor. Their arms and fingers a tangled mess as their tongues danced hungrily across the other’s lips. They paused to take a breath and looked deeply into one another’s eyes. The past suddenly seemed so empty from the other’s absence, and they resumed their wanton embrace. As they lay down on the hard concrete beneath, unable to delay any longer, they heard the explosions in the distant, growing closer and louder and longer, until…nothing.

FADING ECHOES; BROKEN HEARTS
And I walked and walked and walked until I could no longer walk. The things that love makes you do. The sea with its rising and falling waves and the sun setting down with the gusts of wind that brushed my face every now and then—all of it mimicked a healthy conversation, a lively conversation, a joyful conversation. But alas, many things in life are not what they seem to be. My late mother used to say “Live life like you are living it the first time, Live life the way you would live it if you had another chance” To the normal brain, such a sentence would not be very comprehensible, and so it was not to me; I’m only human after all. But after all the sorrows and sufferings of this life and now the state I find myself in—dejection—do I think that one understands the philosophies of life and the profound essence of living life properly and to its fullest—or may one dare to argue, and if they do, then no wonder suicidal notes have become more common in this world all of a sudden.
