Lights of a Siren
A layer of sweat glued Andrew’s shirt to the skin on his back. There was no light to be found in the room he sat in, only cold, stale air. The man shuddered, muttering a “Hello” into the darkness, trying to mask any fear creeping inside him. He lifted his arms for the tenth time in vain, hoping somehow time had changed the result, but the leather straps around his wrists tugged his arms back into place against the metal. A piercing ring echoed in Andrew’s ears and miniature green orbs stung his eyes. He squeezed them shut as if the orbs could be expelled like lemon seeds. Fear filled his veins, swimming into his heart and triggering palpitations. The orbs receded to darkness while the ringing turned into a smooth, eerily magical voice, “Andrzej”.

The Unfurling
Caraliya looked ahead as the young servant girl moved with the presence of one entranced. Closing her eyes, Caraliya felt the touch of dark power seeping from behind the closed door aheada. She could feel it touch all of her senses now. Quick flashes of fire shot along her veins from the warning of danger, creating sparks at her fingertips, awakening the magic within. The earth beneath her feet began to tremble, the stones on the floor rattling. She couldn’t tell if it was her or the magic emanating from the room ahead that was responsible. But her magic bubbled, her veins itching from her constraint on her power.

Oh god no I do not want to be in the cold. I mean nice hunting for trophies but I am not a nature guy. Well cold nature guy. Maybe I’m not a nature guy at all. Oh well.

The Old God and the Time Traveler
It’s not that Zephir actually has to explain himself to anyone, but for all the readers out there, he was not banished from the godly realm. He just got bored and changed to king of heaven’s hair color by accident and- yeah, okay he was totally banished. But at least the mortal realm was fast paced. Interesting. Humans were cute- like little pets that you watch prance and preen.

The Big Splash!
“I told you,” I began running towards the end of the dock “TODAY IS THE DAY!” My heart raced as I heard my feet pound on the wood with every step. As I reached the edge, I used all my might and leaped into the air. I jumped so high that for a moment I felt like I was soaring… while in midair I realized that in all of the excitement of convincing all of my parents I was old enough to go into the ocean and embrace being a mermaid, I completely forgot that I have not been in the ocean since I was born. And that was ten years ago. Needless to say, I don't know how to swim.
