Runes
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. They had flown in from the South in search of something. We watched from above a hill as they flew over a small patch of forest to the West of us. The dragons were frightening, but majestic with mountainous wings that carried their colossal bodies across the air weightlessly. A coal gray dragon with specs of green sent out a small flame through their nostrils as if in annoyance. It signaled to the others with a grunt from its throat to move on down the Valley.

Frostum
Frostum Dragon Hunter By Mike Cornish There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Their arrival was a disaster. This was once a futile productive community. The dragons took our livestock and burned our crops. At first we thought these creatures were wantonly evil and their destruction of our lands mischievous. However the burning of our crops was to chase their pray out into the open, but that explanation didn’t help us.

Here There Be Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Long ago the land and trees were left unscathed, unburnt. A beautiful village sat on the edge of the valley, peaceful and quiet, my village. I was a wee lad, spending my days swinging a stick, pretending to be a hero from the bedtime tales my mother would spin for me. It’s funny how a thread of fate can make those stories of heroism and strife into a reality.

Gorroson
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Sentries atop their steeds soared from the castle to the ends of the Houl River, protecting the land of Sirie. The Fire Legion, as King Valden called them, had been summoned seven years ago when his daughter had gone missing. Convinced it was an attack to his kingdom, the king, using the only power that remained within him, called on his dragon ancestors. A sense of security and great joy spread throughout the kingdom, but that soon changed to uncertainty. The beasts taxed the lives of the villagers; feeding on livestock, burning the land. The rise of the army took young fae and humans alike from their homes. Sirie was in upheaval and King Valden's growing age made things worse. After the death of his queen and the disappearance of his daughter, Valden had refused to remarry, refused to have another child, leaving the kingdom without an heir.

Company of the Lynx
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. The valley was once a thriving community, a popular trading destination in fact. It was once called “Dura’neth”, which meant valley of opportunity in the ancient tongue. Though, these days it is now referred to as the valley of dragons. The valley was located several days north from the boarder marking the kingdom of Kelborah, and was the shortest way someone could travel north across the boarder into the neighbouring kingdom of Rindaria, but the valley was not safe to pass through any longer, and hadn’t been for the last several winters.

Ash Valley
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. As Mila finishes the last of her tea, she notices about twice as many as when she had put the kettle on the stove to boil. Watching them soar through the air gracefully, the way they do so well, is one of her favorite pastimes. "Big day ahead," she whispers under her breath.

Black Dragon
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Once there were mermaids, fairies, and mythical creatures aplenty that continuously blessed the lands and kept humans protected from harm. It never occurred to them that the peace they coveted could crumble so easily.
