The Queen Pelalandorus Incident
The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. Perhaps it was the wind. Others say it was because we were famished. A curse? For having killed her kin. Divine retribution for those we banished. A plague sent by the Vaquarin? For a war that was unfinished.

Berganashio - Chapter 17
Keenwai's arms and shoulders ached from days of rowing. The captured meerbirds onboard the sea-wolf ship had adapted to their new life of slavery as good as they knew how. Twice a day, they were permitted to walk around the ship deck. One of the sea-wolf's would lead the chained line of meerbirds out for a walk around the perimeter of the ship. Queen Mother
Large fangs snapped at the stale air around us, intensifying with every slap of the blue whip against its hairy hide. The dark sock moaned and growled inaudible commands at the spider, aggravating the beast until it lunged for my throat with its eight legs.

"I am but one in a world of many vast figures peering below. I have but one intent, I have staked my life to reach, I want to see peace before me. To create a nation I will paint a picture. I will paint imagery of the living. Written behind the bind of stereotype. I stay on stage amongst a debt of monstrous weight. The dead in each memory, I am surrounded by the shadow my heart cast. I thus I shall be captured unto memory. In the images will manifest what the people believe they need. I too shall bear their desires in mind as my own. I am aware that mere desire is not sufficient enough. Peace is not a dream but shall be reality. I am just a dream too far away to be seen in your reflections. Like a dream, forget your hopes bound to my masterpiece. In accordance, I will proceed as if I were but a fantasy."

Chapter One: The Circus Troupe (part two)
The time Ezra and Emma spent together was often in silence. This was typical for Emma; she was someone prone to listen more than she spoke. For Ezra it was more unusual. Numan suggested that Emma had a calming effect on Ezra– on everything, really, but the sibling’s closeness evoked a stronger effect on Ezra’s demeanor. Ezra wasn’t sure if it was something mystical or strange; he glanced at her now, as still as if she were carved out of stone. When it was just the two of them, Ezra just found it easier not to speak. It was as if it were more difficult to want to.
