Adventure
To the Last Stand
It was a dark and stormy night. Lightning flashed. Winds raged. Hooves thundered. On the back of his steaming horse, a man clung, urging his steed to greater speeds even as he struggled to keep his own seat. Alternate flashes of lightning revealed him as an official messenger, his crest of a running horse never more fitting. As the dark mass of castle Galans came into view, the horse stumbled, throwing the man to the ground. He sat up from the mud wearily and remounted, again pushing the poor beast forward, though this time at a trot. The gates showed through the sleet, promising rest well earned; he, they, were there at last. But this was no time for rest! “Sir Leznupar has been taken!”

The Verdant Valley
“There weren't always dragons in the Valley. That was the story we grew up hearing all the time from our parents in Tembescus. It’s a small town hidden deep in the Verdant Valley that resides inside of the Valdis Kingdom's outer reaches. It isn’t an unremarkable place as most stories would suggest when starting off so far removed from areas full of people, instead it is actually quite remarkable! The lush plant life and wonderful waterfalls that cascade throughout the valley always bring a euphoric blissful feeling to everyone who visits! At least I like to think so…. Oh! I haven’t introduced myself have I? My name is Annabelle, a herbalist’s apprentice in Tembescus. My parents are Vane and Treana, a hunter and a seamstress. They are far more than their jobs would have you think however, yes yes, my mother and father have these wonderful hobbies that boggle everyone who hears, or sees, them. My mother LOVES to participate in the quarterstaff contest every year for one, I practice with her regularly, and my father makes these miniature figures. They are kinda adorable to be honest. He even made this massive replica of our valley that he keeps in our shed, it barely fits. How I do love them both, but I do love plants just a wee bit more.

Demons and Dragons, Oh My!
There weren't always dragons in the valley. There weren't dragons in general. The ones that existed were digital or animatronic. This monstrosity before me was anything but gears and a synthetic covering. This was the size of a downtown metro bus made of pure green breathing flesh.

The Night Bellows
1 The Great Irony There weren’t always dragons in the valley. The Rectres told me that, long ago, the valley was sprawling with bright foliage and golden fruits that hung in abundance upon their many branches. That furred creatures replete with kilos of fresh flesh roamed and fought and played and mated. Before my time, that was normal, that wondrous Age of Plenty. An ignorant dream, I always thought, made by men too afraid to face the truth. Fairy tales and folklore, all. Even if the tales were true, the bedtime stories of a land without dragons proven to me, it would not change the world as it is. I am a Delver, nothing more. And I will never be but that.
