The Mystery
Opheliana was sitting at her computer getting some work done. Zoom meetings, paperwork to file, and reports to submit. It was all so tedious and time-consuming. Her butt was getting tired of being in this chair and it was time to take her pain meds again. But, she supposed, it was a privilege to be allowed to work from home. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth and all that. It helped that her boss was a good friend and approved her request to work remotely quickly. But what else could she have done?

ELEMENTS OF AN ENIGMA
It was a cold, crisp November morning in the Adirondacks. The steel-grey sky reflected on the glassy surface of the lake, where I sat pensively in my canoe. In this tranquil moment I found myself contemplating the swirls of steam rising from the mug of coffee that warmed my hands. The surrounding silence was gradually disturbed by the familiar sound of a flock of Canada geese, winging their way south on their annual migration to the winter grounds. The v-formation of the flock altered course and I could see them drawing closer, guessing there were more than a hundred geese passing overhead. I once thought the leader of the flock was at the head of the formation, but since learned the bird honking commands was always at the end of the longest tail.

What a difference a day makes
What a difference a day makes. The future is never certain. I lay in bed, it was early, I was listless, I went through the coming hours in my mind, trying to convince myself it was worth getting out of bed and getting active. I failed. Then my dog started barking and trying to charge through my locked and secure front door. He also failed; but he did get me out of bed to try and calm the racket down. I looked through the security panel to see what had cause dog to get so agitated, I was in time to see a drone lift and fly away. When I got the door open, I found a box on the step, a perfectly ordinary looking brown cardboard box. I had no trouble picking it up, it was light and a cube, only about six inches each side. On the top was a stuck-on label but this was not showing any name or address, or any other information. Even once I was back inside and turning it over, I could see no other labels or marking of any sort. Very mysterious, I started the coffee filter machine going and unwrapped my surprise package. Dog was at my feet looking up expectantly as if he could smell his favourite treat, The box contained a plastic bag, and this contained, what looked like chocolates, dark chocolates just loose in the bag no fancy display pack. I put these well out of reach of dog and searched for clues about who sent this and why. Nothing, no information at all. The bag contained twenty chocolates, when I opened up the bag and tipped out the contents, I could see that they were all exactly the same, Same size, shape, and weight.

Amtgard Legends
Prologue A crack of thunder struck the night sky, rain poured down coating the grass in a clear mist. Sat in the middle of a large grove was a long, thin pedestal holding what looked to be a glass sphere. Another crack of lightning shot across the sky. Out of the tree line walked a tall, slender being clad in a veil of yellow.

Lost in the dreamscape
She woke up startled out of her sleep again for the fourth night in a row. She saw him again. Well she saw the back of him again. This time she got closer to him than before. There was a serene and calming feeling that surrounded her. Maybe it was the place. There were bright colors coming out of what seemed to be the water.

An Autumn Night
Linore bounded through the shadowed recesses of the aquarium, carving a path through the crowd. She stumbled to a stop and found herself standing in front of a large, curved tank. Her eyes trailed up its glistening surface, taking in the vast array of colors splashed throughout the sparkling blue water. In it was a massive live coral reef that stretched past the ceiling of the room. She tried to follow the structure to the top of the tank with her eyes, but they failed her and she could only see it towering above her before continuing in a blur into the distance.
