Snow Golem
For the Snow Micro challenge. It really is my last one, I swear.
It's not the sun rising that awakens me, that crystal glint of honeyed gold on thick snow. Not his excited shouts, or crunching footsteps. Nor the chill, no, never that.
He makes me, molds me. Shapes my legs that'll never walk, and my arms (crude and useless stumps). Gives me lifeless black eyes. A floppy hat that makes me look harmless, and a scarf, as if a creature like me needs to keep warm. He gives me fruit for a nose. It's a joke. I don't get it.
I stand, looking at the same scrubby patch of garden, the same little patchwork square of sky. Maybe I dream of going somewhere, but how far would I go before the magic melts away? They consign me to a short life and a miserable death, snowfall after snowfall.
It's cruelty, in the end. Cruelty, rage, and those warped, dead-end dreams. A potent cocktail to wake me, grow me, make my eyes light up. But it also eats me from the inside. So I let it out. Stamping. Freezing. Smashing.
Burning cold spikes out of my silly arms and makes them very un-silly. I stab, and watch their lives leak away in a puddle, just like mine does. That's good. That feels right. The warm spray of it leaves pink, melted pockmarks on my snowy body.
Rage spent, magic fading, I return to my post, to meet my own end. Bathed in the glow of sunrise, and my own, long sought after satisfaction.

I’m glad you decided to do a last one this was so freaking good!
Brilliant! You are an Aladdin’s cave of story ideas. I love the darkness in this one but also the description, like, ‘crystal glint of honeyed gold on thick snow’. Gems like this make me read on 🤗
It's not their downfall, it's their "snow-person-fall"! Bloody hell right it is, & a right colorful puddle to boot!
Yaaaaas! I don’t know if I like this one or the other snowman story better, but damn it’s good L.C.!
My favorite winter pieces you've done. I love relating a snowman back to a golem
Hehehehehehheheheheh I freaking love this snowman! He and I would make such great friends!
Oh, I love how the snowman tries his hardest to assert his own little bit of agency in the end. At first, I thought this was playful. By the end, I see that it’s more profound.
Fabulous!!! ♥️♥️💕
Niiiice! Love it. Simple, short, dark!
The devil snowman creation story! This is definitely the best of the three. It animates the creature in the most convincing manner imaginable and makes the unhuman feel human. And as you noted, it stands alone, like a snowman ur story. It is without a doubt the best entry to the snow micro that I have read. My heart sank with palpable envy when I read it, LC. I am in awe.
Aha. So that's he's a frozen psychopath, or is it psychopopsicle. Okay, I'll show myself out now.
Oh wow! So imaginative. I love this so much!!
a/n: THANK YOU FOR READING! This is my sixth entry, and my third snowman story. I recommend reading all 3 (of course I do) but I'm confident this stands by itself as well 👍

Wonderful and intense story!
Fantastic writing. Such a captivating story.
