A Nightcafe Creation By The Author
In a boat on a black river in darkness, the only sound is the oars pulling the vessel through the water. There are others with me, I know, but I cannot see them. They are silent, like me.
This is not a place for words, it is a place for thoughts and contemplation. Though I am with others, I am alone.
All joined this boat willingly and await our final destination and fate.
The boatman pushes our vessel across the river, to the far side.
We always thought that this place was the stuff of myth and legend, but now we know it is real, and Charon is taking us to our final destination .....

Charon seems awesome! I’d get on his boat if it wasn’t so final! Great work
Love this - The mythological reference gave it a sad weight at the end- really clever micro fic 💜
I loved how the 'silent voyage' was both literal and symbolic, adding layers to the narrative. Beautifully written and deeply moving!
Please ask him to take me too. I'm tired of being alive, lol. Loved your story!
Damn - what a last para! Well done!
THe Grateful dead goes so well with this. Really really nice
This one will Styx with me as a bit of resigned comfort.
Oh, where are they heading. Is it purgatory or is it hell? Good job.
OH, Chills!! Wonderfully written, Mike
